Kirsten Dunst thinks "life on earth is evil" in new clip from Melancholia

Y'know, I'm not totally convinced that Lars Von Trier's being honest with us. Melancholia is his beautiful new "sci-fi" film starring Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg as sisters dealing with an impending wedding and another pesky little problem like the end of the world. In the trailer we saw previously and the images that have been released, the perception is that this will be much milder film than say...Antichrist. But where that movie was so visually raw and brutal, I have a feeling Von Trier is going to do the same with Melancholia on the emotional side. A new clip has been released which I think backs up that assertion, featuring Justine(Dunst) making clear her thoughts on what living in the world is like. She's not a happy person, and contrary to what Von Trier says I never expected there to be a happy ending.

I continue to be stunned seeing Dunst in a Von Trier film, and I hope this combined with her eye catching performance in All Good Things, will open her up to even bigger roles in the future.

Melancholia stars Dunst, Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Alexander Skarsgard, Stellan Skarsgard, John Hurt, Brady Corbet, and Charlotte Rampling. It'll be premiering at Cannes this week, and will release theatrically here on November 4th.
