Adrianne Palick joins G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes; Bruce Wills eyed for a role

Paramount might want to watch out, because Adrianne Palicki has a cloud over her recent career that can only cause problems. Deadline reports that the Friday Night Lights actress has signed on to play Lady Jaye in GI Joe: Cobra Strikes, the sequel to 2009's surprisingly fun toy adaptation.

Lady Jaye is one of the most popular Joes, a former model turned soldier who is often portrayed as being in a relationship with warrant officer, Flint. That means she'll likely get to lock lips with DJ Cotrona, who signed on to the film earlier this week. Palicki has had a pretty awful run of things lately. Forgetting the disastrous and very public demise of the Wonder Woman series she was set to star in, her other series, Lone Star, died after like two weeks. On the big screen she's starred in both of Sebastian Gutierrez's lame crime comedies, Women in Trouble and Elektra Luxx. Nobody saw either of them. She served up truck stop food while angels attacked the Earth in Legion, which was also terrible. Oh, and that Red Dawn remake she was a part of will probably be released when Dreadnoks fly out of my arse.

Paramount is trying to fast track this thing for next summer, mainly because it doesn't look like the Star Trek sequel will make the date. That explains the sudden burst of casting, but one thing that can't be overlooked is a serious lacking of a veteran presence on the set, similar to what Dennis Quaid brought to the table as General Hawk. Bruce Willis may be able to fill that void, as he's being eyed for a role as the original Joe, Joe Colton.

Even though I'll miss the "talented" Rachel Nichols and Sienna Miller's evil librarian look, I'm really digging the new additions the cast. Returning are Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Byung Hun Lee. Dwayne Johnson, The Rza, DJ Cotrona, Elodie Yung are the newly commissioned officers.  Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick(Zombieland) wrote the script.
