New poster for Final Destination 5

Just like the lucky(or unlucky depending on your perspective) folks in the Final Destination flicks, this franchise somehow keeps defying death. 2009's THE Final Destination was supposed to be THE END, and creatively it was clear that what was once was a clever idea in the beginning had now devolved into a dark comedy, with silly and dense plots and even sillier deaths. Banking $180M worldwide quiets a lot of critics, and it wasn't long before the fifth film was announced.

Final Destination 5 follows the exact same premise as the rest, with the massive, bloody disaster to open the film taking place on a suspension bridge. Tim Pawlenty must be their Governor. Anyway, a new poster for the film is actually pretty slick, playing up the disaster in a "highway to hell" sorta way.

Final Destination 5 stars Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Tony Todd, David Koechner, and a bunch of others folks destined to get killed in unique ways. Steven Quayle directs the film, due out in theaters on August 12th.
