Awesome new banner for Snow White and the Huntsman

While I was away last  week, word broke that the long untitled Snow White film from Tarsem Singh(The Fall, Immortals) would be called Mirror Mirror. I dig it, and the catchy title only widens the differences between his film and Rupert Sanders' Snow White and the Huntsman. Singh's will take his trademark vibrant color palette and present an eye winking, tongue in cheek version of the story, with Julia Roberts hamming it up as the Evil Queen.  Sanders' is more action oriented and fast paced, with Kristen Stewart a butt kicking, sword wielding version of the beautiful princess.

A new character banner for Snow White and the Huntsman has been released which plays up some of the film's darker elements. There's Chris Hemsworth skulking around as the titular huntsman, who defies the orders of the Evil Queen(Charlize Theron) and chooses not to kill Snow White, but instead to train her in the fine art of ass kicking. The hope is for this to be the launch of a new franchise, although I don't know how Hemsworth would find the time considering he's already neck deep into The Avengers and Thor. Stewart has said she's more than willing to leap into another franchise, with Twilight now on the cusp of wrapping up.

Sam Claflin plays the Prince, and I'm curious to see where he fits into the story now with there obviously going to some sexual heat between the huntsman and Snow White. There's also been a change to the line-up of seven dwarves. Johnny Harris(The Fades) has replaced Stephen Graham(Boardwalk Empire) as Nero, one of the dwarves all named after Roman emperors. Nick Frost, Ian McShane, Toby Jones, Bob Hoskins, Eddie Marsan, and Ray Winstone will fill the shoes of the rest of the little guys.

With Hossein Amini(Drive) giving the script a final rewrite, this is looking like the Snow White film to beat next year. We'll find out when it hits theaters on June 1st 2012.
