1st official poster for David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis'
Let's face it, as much as some may want to see David Cronenberg slip back into horror mode, he's gained far more mainstream notoriety the last few years for venturing as far from that genre as possible. His most recent film, A Dangerous Method, may sound nasty but it's really about two psychological heavyweights, Carl Jung and Sigmeund Freud, arguing about sex and stuff. And really, at least for me, I think Cronenberg is making more interesting choices now than ever. Why would anyone really want him to make The Fly again? Seriously?
While Cronenberg is wrapping up his next film, Cosmopolis, a new poster for it has emerged, and it looks to be the dramatic piece we've been waiting for out of Robert Pattinson. Well, for those who thought he sucked in Water for Elephants, anyway. I thought he was pretty good. Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, the story centers on 28-year old Eric Packer(Pattinson), a multi-billionaire who runs into all sorts of problems while trying to get across town in his hi-tech limousine. The cast features Paul Giamatti, Sarah Gadon(recently in A Dangerous Method), Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, and Jay Baruchel. Not too shabby.
The film once featured Colin Farrell in the lead, but he left when he took on the Total Recall remake. This caused a shift in focus towards making the cast skew a bit younger. Marion Cotillard had been attached as well, but she too departed. [Cosmopolisfilm via BleedingCool]
