Daniel Craig may star in five more James Bond films

My personal favorite James Bond will probably always be Pierce Brosnan. Not the most popular choice, I know, but I dug his blend of style and humor. Plus I used to love Remington Steele. Daniel Craig has been an excellent choice, though, and for the latest direction Bond has gone in, he's proven to be a perfect fit. His two films have both grossed more money than any of the Brosnan films did, so it makes sense that producers might want to hang on to him for awhile, possibly for as many as five movies.

The story first came to light thru The People which has producer Michael G. Wilson stating that negotiations to extend Craig's contract could begin as soon as filming on Skyfall wraps up....

Wilson: “It’s certainly something we’ll be discussing with him once we finish shooting Skyfall. Filming has gone very well so far and I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s record and do eight pictures. Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously. There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a film maker’s dream.”

So there's no offer on the table or anything, but if things are really as in sync as Wilson seems to think, then it should be little more than a formality.  As for the tone of the next film? Sounds like Sam Mendes and Co. are going back to the old school for inspiration....

Wilson: "The director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a 60s feel – more Sean. I think that’s what the fans wanted. There’s a magical Goldfinger feel surrounding it all. It’s all very exciting. I can’t wait for people to see the movie because I think we’re making a very special Bond."

Mendes' selection as director confused a lot of people, but I think he's the perfect choice for the type of  film they're trying to make. We'll find out next year when Skyfall touches ground on November 9th 2012.
