Lars Von Trier to reteam with Charlotte Gainsbourg for The Nymphomaniac

In a fair and just world, Charlotte Gainsbourg would be the biggest movie star in the world. No other actress tackles the types of challenging, emotionally raw flicks she does. Her bravery has led to her becoming a favorite of controversial director Lars Von Trier, who cast her in the brutal Antichrist and this year's Melancholia.  Now the two are set to work together again, as she's entered talks to star in Von Trier's next film, The Nymphomaniac. Based on title alone, count me in.

Von Trier has been talking the film up a little bit over the last few months, but details are still mostly under wraps. What we do know is that it'll deal with one woman's erotic life through the age of fifty. Check please. I'm expecting a film that will be just as visceral as Antichrist was in it's depictions of sex, but hopefully without the genital mutilation. Von Trier regulars, Willem Dafoe and Stellan Skarsgard, have been approached for roles but no decision has been made as far as I can tell. You might as well pencil Skarsgard in, and I'll bet Udo Kier shows up, too.

Shooting is set to begin next fall. [Variety]
