Nick Frost talks follow up to Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz

While it's been fun watching Nick Frost and Simon Pegg spread their wings, entering the Hollywood mainstream with flicks like Mission: Impossible, Star Trek, and Paul, what their earliest and biggest fans really want to know is when they'll finally put the finishing touches on the "Blood and Ice Cream" or "Three Flavors Cornetto" trilogy. For those less familiar that would be the follow-up to genre comedies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, directed by and co-written by Edgar Wright.

When last I heard anything about it, the delay had been due to the group's outside ventures, most notably Wright taking time to direct Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Back in March, right around when Paul was hitting theaters, Pegg said they'd all be getting together soon and hopefully the film would be done some time in 2012.  Now while doing press for The Adventures of Tintin, Nick Frost has revealed to Comingsoon.net that the process may be further along than we knew...

Frost: There is a draft out there, which I’ve read, and it’s great, and I think our plan is to crack on and shoot next year. Touch wood. They move and they change but we definitely want to get on with it.

Sounds like the script is well on it's way. The last film has long had the proposed title of The World's End, which sounds like it could have something to do with a coming apocalypse. Shaun of the Dead was a zombie movie, while Hot Fuzz was a buddy cop picture. If they intend to stick to the spoofing of genres theme, then it would make sense for The World's End to be more science fiction.

For now, the best chance to sorta see all of the gang together again is in The Adventures of Tintin. Pegg and Frost voice the two bumbling detectives, Thompson & Thompson, while Wright co-wrote the script.
