Red Band clip from 'Don't Go in the Woods', directed by Vincent D'onofrio
While there's been a justifiable amount of buzz surrounding the genre breaking style of Joss Whedon's horror, The Cabin the Woods, Vincent D'onofrio looks to be embracing them with his own upcoming slasher flick, Don't Go in the Woods. The film marks D'onofrio's directorial debut and was completed way back in 2008, making a few appearances at film festivals ever since. Described as a horror/musical, the story follows a young group of musicians heading into the woods to get away and focus on dreaming up new songs, only to find themselves at the mercy of a serial killer in funny hat.
The film stars Eric Bogosian, who most will recognize from D'onofrio's time on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and a bunch of young stars you probably couldn't pick out of a police line-up. Shot over the course of two weeks, the production values and the acting skill appear to be pretty low, but I tend to dig more traditional slasher flicks like this. I don't know whether it was the intent to be a remake of the controversial 1980 flick(banned in many countries, by the way), but it does seem to bear a resemblance.
In this latest red band clip, 'Lost in Translation', a French member of the group tries unsuccessfully to warn everybody that...oh, there might be a killer on the loose....
Don't Go in the Woods is expected to open on December 26th 2011!
