Trailer Time: Bel Ami, starring Robert Pattinson and Uma Thurman

As we're starting to get our first looks at Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, it's easy to forget that the Twilight thesp has another film coming out next year that has been flying mostly under the radar. That would be  Bel Ami, based Guy de Maupassant's 19th century novel about a petty military officer's rise to becoming one of the most powerful and corrupt journalists in Paris. Uma Thurman plays a colleague and eventual lover who helps him solidify his power base. Kristen Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci co-star, with the film directed by theater vets Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod. The novel has been adapted a few times before, including a 1947 version starring Angela Lansbury.

I like some of the movies Pattinson is making to ensure he's not forever saddled by the spectre of Edward Cullen. He seems to be taking a more artsy route than his Twilight castmates, but there's nothing wrong with that. Look for Bel Ami to open next year on March 2nd, but for now check out the new trailer.....
