Ben Younger to direct Vinny Pazienza biopic

Dude. Remember Ben Younger? Probably not, but I bet you remember his directorial debut, the promising Boiler Room, which starred Ben Affleck, Giovanni Ribisi, and Vin Diesel? Yeah, it was sorta like a new generation Wall Street. That was 12 years ago(!!!!), and other than that weird Meryl Streep/Uma Thurman rom-com, Prime, Younger hasn't been much of a factor. Well, now he's back and in a big way if you ask me.

He's set to direct Paz, a biopic on the life of former lightweight and junior middleweight champion Vinny Pazienza. A Rhode Island native, the Pazmanian Devil's career was once thought to be over after a devastating car crash broke his neck. After three months recuperating, he returned to the ring against doctor's orders and defeated the current middleweight champion, Luis Santana. Studios basically started vying for the film rights that same night.

So this one's shaping up to be another inspiration boxing drama, and with a script by Angelo Pizzo(Hoosiers, Rudy), I wouldn't be surprised if it reached the same critical heights as The Fighter. [Variety]
