Emma Stone gets behind the wheel of 'Little White Corvette'
After becoming America's new favorite sweetheart the last couple of years with movies like Easy A and Crazy Stupid Love, Emma Stone faces what could potentially be her first Oscar nomination for her rousing performance in The Help. I don't think she has a prayer of winning, but that's not really the point. To even be mentioned would be an honor, and would solidify her as one of the fastest rising stars on the planet. Now that she's wrapped up playing Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man, Stone has never had more options than she does right now.
One project she's settled on is Little White Corvette, a film she's been keeping close tabs on since last summer. Based on a script by Michael Diliberti(30 Minutes or Less) and David Branson Smith, the story centers on a nerdy guy and his wild older sis who travel to Miami to sell a stash of cocaine they found in their late father's car.
I'm curious about the tone, as I hope it plays up Stone's natural comedic gifts. With that plot, it could either be a raucous road trip comedy, or spin off into some pretty dark areas. We'll probably get a better grip on it once a director is named. Filming is expected to begin late this summer. [Deadline]
