Lily Collins is the new Ash! Takes the lead in the 'Evil Dead' remake

Lily Collins(and those beautiful eyebrows) is headed into some uncharted territory with her next flick. Sure, she's been Taylor Lautner arm candy, squared off with Sandra Bullock, and will somehow play the nice girl opposite an evil Julia Roberts, but that's nothing compared to the type of scrutiny she'll soon be facing.

BloodyDisgusting report that Collins will take on the lead role of Mia in the upcoming remake of Evil Dead. She's basically the femme version of Bruce Campbell's Ash character. The Sam Raimi-produced, Diablo Cody-written film will follow five friends who unleash a deadly, demonic force while stuck at a remote cabin. The force possesses each of them until one remains to fight for survival. Mia apparently discovers what is going on, but due to her rocky, drug fueled past, nobody believes her. Figures.


Fede Alvarez is in the directing hot seat, but fortunately for him the names 'Raimi' and 'Cody' are all anybody cares about. If this thing turns out to be a flop that the Evil Dead diehards hate, he might be able to avoid the fallout.

Filming should begin in just a couple of months in New Zealand, with a release date set for April 12th 2013. Collins will be seen next in Mirror Mirror, directed by Tarsem Singh.
