Dwayne Johnson and Liam Hemsworth to star in heist flick, 'Empire State'

2012 promises to be a pretty big year for both Dwayne Johnson and Liam Hemsworth. Perhaps the biggest of their careers. After a few years floundering in bad family flicks, Johnson returns to his WWE roots to face John Cena at the next WrestleMania event. That should be awesome. He also seems to have regained his action hero footing, taking over the lead in G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. For Hemsworth, he'll become the new darling of the teeny boppers when The Hunger Games rolls into theaters in March, but moreso than that he'll tough it out with the geriatrics in The Expendables 2.  This might be the year he finally escapes the shadow of his big brother, Chris "Thor" Hemsworth.

Despite their busy schedules, it appears they've got enough time to cram in one more film. Deadline reports they've entered talks to star in Empire State, an indie heist flick to be written and directed by Dito Montiel. What, a Dito Montiel flick without Johnson's GI Joe co-star, Channing Tatum? That's weird.  Montiel and Tatum previously worked together on Fighting, The Son of No One, and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. The story surrounds a true life 1982 armored car robbery that at the time was considered the largest cash heist ever.

This doesn't sounds like anything too strenuous, so it probably won't be a long shoot.  Filming is expected to kick off in April with a script by Adam Mazer.
