Remake of 'The Crow' finds new life; F. Javier Gutiérrez to direct

Somebody REALLY wants this reboot of The Crow to happen, because not too many producers would be willing to endure so much crap to get it done. Ignoring all the early stuff with Stephen Norrington and Mark Wahlberg, over the last few months the film has lost both Bradley Cooper and a director in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Did I mention there was a legal dispute recently settled between The Weinsteins and Relativity Media? Yeah, it's been pretty terrible, but business is about to pick up.

F. Javier Gutierrez is the next in line to direct the relaunch, designed to be a gritty update of the James O'Barr graphic novels about a disembodied spirit that takes over the unjustly dead so they can seek revenge. Gutierrez is best known for directing the award winning Spanish language thriller, Before the Fall. Jesse Wigutow(It Runs In the Family) will write the script.

Last we heard, Mark Wahlberg was being re-considered for the lead role, despite the headaches he caused last time. Channing Tatum was in the running as well. Whether or not that's still the case remains to be seen, but I hope not.
