Sasha Grey and Adam Goldberg join 'Inferno', the other Linda Lovelace biopic
I'm going to go on a hunch and say that Linda Lovelace was a pretty popular lady in her time. But I'm also going to bet and say that her name hasn't been mentioned this much since she famously starred in Deep Throat back in 1972. Two rival biopics are being produced about her right now, and with the flurry of activity surrounding Lovelace(which stars Amanda Seyfried, Demi Moore, and Peter Sarsgaard), it's easy to forget Inferno, which has long had Malin Akerman and Matt Dillon in the leads. You'll recall this is the film Lindsay Lohan was too screwed up to be in. Now you can add three more names to it's cast, and one I find to be very interesting indeed.
Sasha Grey, ex-porn star turned legit actress(and still a heavy focus of a lot of my hard drive space) has a role in the film, to be written and directed by Matthew Wilder. No word on who she'll actually play, but wouldn't it be funny if she played somebody like feminist icon, Gloria Steinem? That'd be some shrewd casting there, buddy. I think Grey has a lot of potential here. I wasn't a huge fan of The Girlfriend Experience, but her cold demeanor worked in a way. She was very good as Vince's girlfriend on Entourage.
The other two additions are Adam Goldberg, playing Lovelace's co-star, Harry Reems. People still insist to me that Goldberg is funny, but I don't buy it. Harold Perrineau(Lost, Oz) has the most showy role of all, playing Lovelace's lover...Sammy Davis Jr. Not kidding. By some accounts he used to throw wild Deep Throat screening parties and stuff. Perrineau is a gifted, multi-faceted actor and should be able to knock the role out of the park.
So we've got a 50/50 chance that one of these flicks will be good, but whatever the case, the first one out of the gate has a definite advantage. This isn't Snow White, a universal fairy tale that can support two or three movies in a short period of time. Lovelace's story is already going to divide audiences, and the material is going to keep a lot of folks at home. [Variety]
