Sure Shots: Alex Proyas; Daniel Radcliffe; Nicolas Cage/Mickey Rourke

* After losing out on his chance to helm his expensive, big budget Paradise Lost spectacle, Alex Proyas(Knowing) isn't venturing far from the games of gods and men. He's set to direct Gods of Egypt, an original story which he'll co-write with Matt Sazana and Burk Sharpless. The story is set amongst the pyramids and sphinxes of Egypt, and follows a god and a common thief on a magical journey. Before Proyas hops in the director's chair for this one, he'll first shoot the psychological thriller, The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag. [Deadline]

* After looking like he might only be involved in a producing capacity, Guillermo Del Toro just couldn't stay away from co-directing his stop-motion animated Pinocchio adaptation alongside Mark Gustafson(Fantastic Mr. Fox). While we're probably still a couple of years away from seeing the film, Del Toro is already hearing from actors interested in being a part of the project. At Cannes he revealed that Daniel Radcliffe was interested in possibly voicing the title character, but that no deals had been made yet. Still, would Del Toro even bring it up if he wasn't at least leaning in Radcliffe's direction?  A number of names are apparently on Del Toro's wishlist, including Tom Waits and Christopher Walken. [THR]

* Who's got the lock on crazy? Nicolas Cage and Mickey Rourke are teaming up(!!!!) for Marble City, a vengeance thriller about a newly released prison seeking revenge against those who put him there. This would be a total snoozer if it wasn't for Cage and Rourke, as the crazy duo promise to make the set photos pretty God damned interesting. The liability insurance on the production is going to be fucking bonkers. Ryuhei Kitamura(Midnight Meat Train) will direct, and he laughably describes the film as "Kill Bill meets Drive". Random.
