Sure Shots: David Slade; Paula Patton; Nicolas Cage

* David Slade(30 Days of Night) will take the helm on Villain, a wilderness set thriller about two brothers confronting their dark pasts. Not much else is known about the plot, but we do know the script comes from fast rising scribe, Josh Zetumer, who wrote the upcoming Robocop remake and one of the parallel scripts for The Bourne Legacy. Um, the one that didn't get used. Slade is still waiting on David James Kelly to complete the Daredevil reboot script, so he'll complete this first before jumping into that.

* A side effect of Think Like A Man's success, maybe? After years in development, Fox Searchlight is finally ready to move ahead on Baggage Claim, a film to be written and directed by David Talbert(First Sunday) based on his own 2003 novel. Paula Patton has been set to star, playing flight attendant Montana Moore, who along with her fellow attendants flies around the world to find a husband within 30 days or 30,000 miles. Yeah, it sounds terrible, but Patton has a way of making these films work. [Deadline]

* Yes! A new Nicolas Cage movie to obsess over! Cage, Juno Temple, and Johnny Knoxville are set to star in the indie road trip drama, Wild Side. Jesse Baget will direct, based on a script co-written with Stefania Moscato. The story follows a small town beauty queen named Lila Belle Clyde(Temple), who wants to run away from New Orleans with recently stolen diamonds. To do it, she'll need to avoid the authorities, a dogged news reporter, and Odel, a self-described "wolf" tracking her down to get back what belonged to him. I'm assuming Cage will take the Odel role. Or at least I hope he is. [Deadline]
