'The Crow' talks are just "rumor mill stuff" says James McAvoy

After keeping a relatively low profile for a bit, we're going to be seeing James McAvoy everywhere. Within the next month we'll see him in both Welcome to the Punch, and then in Danny Boyle's Trance. He'll also star opposite Jessica Chastain in the twin The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby dramas, not to mention Irvine Welsh's Filth should arrive at some point. All of this while filming his return as young Charles Xavier in X-men: Days of Future Past.

Even with all of that going on, there have still been other projects he's been rumored for, and one of those was the long-developing, terribly troubled remake of The Crow. Last month McAvoy was said to be eying the lead role of Eric Draven, who is reborn as a spirit of vengeance after being murdered. When asked about the rumors, McAvoy had a pretty straight forward response...

McAvoy: “It’s not for real. I don’t think it’s materialized into anything truthful yet…it’s just been rumor mill stuff.”

I'm surprised he has the time to consider anything other than sleep, to be honest. He's also doing MacBeth at the West End, which has kept him from even reading Bryan Singer's X-men script yet. As for The Crow, despite the years of problems it will eventually get made. F. Javier Gutierrez was the last name said to be directing it, but who knows if that's still in the cards.
