Edward Norton joins Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's 'Birdman'

For his first foray into comedy, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is pulling out all the stops to make sure he has the most talented cast possible. With  Emma Stone, Michael Keaton, Naomi Watts, and Zach Galifianakis coming aboard Birdman yesterday, the already-excellent group just got better with the addition of Edward Norton.

The film is based on a short story by Raymond Chandler, and features Keaton as a once-great actor who played an iconic superhero. To reclaim past glories he puts on a Broadway show, where he butts heads with an egotistical actor played by Norton. Stone is Keaton's daughter and assistant, newly released from rehab. Galifianakis is the show's producer, while Naomi Watts is an actress.

Norton recently showed his comedic chops in Moonrise Kingdom, but it's a side we don't get to see often enough. Shooting on Birdman begins this April in New York. Is there any conceivable way in which this film can fail? Did I just jinx it? [Deadline]
