Mickey Mouse returns in new short 'Croissant De Triomphe'
It's nice to hear some Disney news that isn't about Star Wars, The Avengers, or remaking one of their animated fairy tales. One thing they haven't done a lot of over the years is actually use the stable of characters that made them famous to begin with. Y'know, like a certain mouse named Mickey? Mickey Mouse has only starred in a handful of films over the last few decades, but now Disney is preparing to produce nineteen 2D animated shorts he'll be featured in, and the first one is here.
Disney's plan is to release the films on multiple platforms, from TV to the web, with each placing Mickey in a new exotic locale. There he'll face some new wacky situation that he'll have to dig his way out of. The first short, Croissant De Triomphe, has him in Paris trying to acquire pastry for a starving Minnie. Pluto, Goofy, Donald and all of his buddies will appear in future episodes.
As for the film, it's really not that funny, and the budgetary limitations are obvious. Still, it's hard not to fall in love with the vintage look, and it's been far too long since we had a chance to see Mickey in action in anything other than video games. You'll be able to see more when they begin rolling out on July 28th. For now, enjoy Croissant De Tromphe....
