Red band trailer for apocalypse comedy 'Rapturepalooza' with Anna Kendrick

It's a bad sign that I've forgotten about Rapturepalooza twice now, right? First that the film even existed, announced a couple of years ago with little fanfare and even less follow-up. And again this week after the trailer was revealed, it slipped my mind again. So here it is now, for those who like their apocalyptic comedies cheap and deeply unfunny.

As you probably guessed, the film presents a supposedly humorous take on the end of the world, with all the Biblical signs playing out in ridiculous fashion. Shouting locusts, aggressively irritating demons, and bothersome rains of blood ("Oh well that's great, now it's all smeared") are what poor Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson, and John Francis Daley have to work with. Guys like Rob Corddry and Ken Jeong turn up, but they're pretty much in everything and can't make a bad film better. To be fair, Robinson's only funny in measured doses, too. Overall this looks terrible.

Directed by Paul Middleditch, Rapturepalooza hits VOD on May 10th, and I think I'll be passing this off on +Julian Lytle to review. Why not just wait for the better apocalypse comedies like This is The End or The World's End? Or better yet, go revisit last year's Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.
