Robert Pattinson, Douglas Booth, Sam Claflin, and Max Irons may get 'Posh' for Lone Scherfig
After making her big splash under the strict Dogme 95 rules with Italian for Beginners, Lone Scherfig is probably best known for introducing the world to Carey Mulligan in An Education. Finding considerably less success with the shallow Anne Hathaway romance One Day, Scherfig recently signed on to a much more promising project, directing an adaptation of acclaimed stageplay, Posh. The original production featured a number of young up 'n comers, including Game of Thrones' Kit Harington, and Scherfig seems to be stocking up her cast with an even greater measure of talent.
Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail reports that Sam Claflin, Max Irons, and Douglas Booth are all in talks to join the film. If those names don't exactly blow you away, then note that they may be joined by Robert Pattinson. Laura Wade's play centers on a fictional version of the highly exclusive Bullingdon Club (which counts current Prime Minister David Cameron as a member), an Oxford University society known for its lavish banquets and grand rituals. The story follows the privileged members of the Riot Club, who hold a tense dinner at a country pub where they trash the place and abuse the owners, with the night ending in violence.
Pattinson's busy filming David Michod's The Rover and has a number of projects in the burner, so he's merely in very early discussions at this stage. The others are more likely, with Irons circling one of the lead roles. The son of Jeremy Irons, he'll be seen next week opposite Saoirse Ronan in The Host. Claflin already has a couple of blockbusters under his belt, and will add another as Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Booth recently filmed Romeo & Juliet with Hailee Steinfeld, and will appear in Darren Aronofsky's Noah. He also has a role in The Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending. [via ThePlaylist]
