* Ready to see real life mystery writer Agatha Christie turned into a Sherlock Holmes-style character? Good, because it's happening, and Easy A director Will Gluck will be the man making it happen. He'll direct Agatha, a film which fictionalizes the writer's mysterious disappearance for 10 days back in 1926 after her husband revealed his infidelity. She resurfaced in a Yorkshire hotel, but no explanation was ever given, although her propensity for depression is said to be the primary reason. Paramount Pictures has snagged the spec script by Allison Schroeder, who is unfortunately best known for the Mean Girls sequel nobody wanted. This is still a ways off as Gluck will first helm the Annie remake starring Quvenzhane Wallis. [Deadline]
* Mad Men star Christina Hendricks has signed on to Campbell Scott's adaptation of Joan Didion's A Book of Common Prayer. She'll star alongside Scott, who came aboard to direct it earlier this year. She'll play Charlotte Douglas, “an American woman who arrives in a fictional Central American country that is on the verge of revolution and inexplicably imagines it is the place where she will be reunited with her fugitive daughter.” Hendricks is already set to topline Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster, so we'll have plenty of opportunity to see how she fares as a leading actress. * Production on the retirement-age romantic comedy And So It Goes...is set to begin soon, and there's been a major change at the top. Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas are still good to go, but director P.J. Hogan is out, replaced by screen vet Rob Reiner. Makes sense, considering Reiner's Castle Rock is producing the thing. The film has Douglas as a selfish realtor, and Keaton as his "determined and lovable" neighbor, who fall in love while he deals with the sudden appearance of his estranged son's granddaughter. Expect life lessons to be learned in earnest, and old age jokes abound. [Showbiz411]
