As the director of the first Saw film, James Wan knows a thing or two about making the most out of a small budget horror. But even for him, Insidious was a special case. On a budget of just over $1M, it pulled in nearly $100M, faring better than many of the genre remakes of established franchises. With that level of success comes sequels, and now Wan is ready to put the Lambert family through the wringer once again with Insidious: Chapter Two.
Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne are back as Josh and Renai Lambert, and they're still dealing with the entity that made their lives so miserable last time. Only now it's Josh who has become its victim, rather than their son, played by the returning Ty Simpkins. Barbara Hershey, Lin Shaye, and the ghostbusting pair of Angus Sampson and Leigh Whannell (also the screenwriter) are back for what looks like another spine-tingler from Wan.
Insidious: Chapter Two will haunt theaters on Friday, September 13th, of course.
