Teaser for Will Ferrell's miniseries spoof 'The Spoils of Babylon'

While filming has yet to begin on Will Ferrell's The Spoils of Babylon has yet to begin, IFC is obviously very excited about the potential of it for 2014. A spoof on those overwrought primetime dramas like Winds of War and The Thorn Birds, Ferrell's six-part miniseries follows a family of wealthy oil tycoons, and has a tone not too far off from his satirical Casa de mi Padre. In fact, the network is so pumped for the show that they've already released a teaser trailer for it, and it's pretty hilarious.

The footage doesn't reveal any footage or any of the show's impressive ensemble which includes Tobey Maguire, Kristen Wiig,  Jessica Alba, Michael Sheen, Val Kilmer, Tim Robbins and Haley Joel Osment, and Ferrell himself. Instead it focuses on the fictional author Eric Jonrosh (played by Ferrell, of course), who has written "57 best sellers in 85 different languages", nearly all of them with "The Spoils" of something in the title. The press release lists fake titles such as The Spoils of Galaxy 7, The Spoils of Grasping for God, The Spoils of Sahara, and many more, making one wonder if perhaps Ferrell and the producers at Funny or Die are planning multiple phony adaptations.

The Spoils of Babylon will be directed by Matt Piedmont, and has yet to be given a premiere date.
