"Wanna play?" Chucky may look like your friend to the end but legions of Child's Play fans know that lurking behind the doll's killer smile is an actual serial killer. Nine years after the comical Seed of Chucky, franchise creator Don Mancini is taking Chucky back to his horror roots with Curse of Chucky, and the first trailer has just sliced its way onto the web.
Brad Dourif is back and voicing the pint-sized slasher as he plagues a new family grieving over the mother's mysterious death. Directed by Mancini, the film gets pretty good mileage out of Chucky's creepy stare, and he's even more terrifying when not actively stalking down his latest victim. It's also refreshing to see that Mancini has decided to stick with practical effects to bring Chucky to life rather than going for the easy CGI short cut.
Curse of Chucky stars Fiona Dourif, A. Martinez, and Danielle Bisutti, and hits DVD/Blu-Ray on October 8th.
