James DeMonaco Back for 'The Purge 2'; Rupert Sanders Leads 'Napoleon'

* Before The Purge went on to be the latest low-budget horror smash for Blumhouse productions last summer, scoring $87M at a cost of only $3M, Jason Blum talked to us about plans for a sequel. Part of those plans was definitely bringing back writer/director James DeMonaco for a film that would expand on the idea of the government sanctioning one night of legal violence. It looks like Blum got what he wanted because Variety reports DeMonaco is returning for the sequel, which will begin production by the year's end.

* As Rupert Sanders again is forced to deal with the repercussions of his affair with Kristen Stewart, the Snow White and the Huntsman director is also adding another project on his crowded slate. Sanders is set to direct Napoleon, which you might have guessed is based on the famous French leader Napoleon Bonaparte. The script by Jeremy Doner is said to be in the vein of Scarface (huh??), which means he'll go out guns blazin' at the battle of Waterloo or something. Sanders has been adding one project after another with nothing moving as of yet, so just toss this one onto the pile of potentials. [Deadline]
