While audiences bemoan the abundance of sequels in today's movie landscape, the simple fact is that they sell. People flock to what is familiar, which is why you sometimes see franchises reborn after literally decades of sitting idle. Sometimes that works, often it doesn't, but in the case of George Miller's years-in-the-making Mad Max: Fury Road, the anticipation to revisit the desert apocalypse of the prior films is simply off the charts.
After two hotly-received trailers, a new batch of images have released which give us another look at how wild this film is going to get. Just sit back and take in the sheer detail of the costumes; from the spiked masks, medal-adorned suits, and intricately carved chest tattoos. There's even Charlize Theron in the role of Furiosa, who appears to lose an arm at some point. And of course in the center of it all is Tom Hardy as Mad Max himself, who must survive the harsh landscape while being chased by some dude named Immortan Joe.
Mad Max: Fury Road opens May 15th.
