While horror movies have never really been my thing, I've taken a particular interest in the development of Rob Zombie's latest, Lords of Salem. Part of the reason is that he's one of the few stand out voices in a flagging genre. I don't particularly love House of 1000 Corpses or The Devil's Rejects, but they're stylized and gory in a way that is very specific to Zombie, and that makes his films at the very least entertaining.
We're finally getting a trailer for Lords of Salem, and it definitely has Zombie's eerie and demented stamp on it. Oddly operatic, the footage doesn't actually amount to much, looking like a random collection of weird moments than anything cohesive. The film stars Sheri Moon Zombie as a Salem radio DJ who awakens a centuries-old coven of witches. Anchor Bay picked up the rights to Lords of Salem after the Toronto premiere, so expect a release date to be announced soon....
