New Trailer for Ensemble Drama 'Reach Me' starring Sylvester Stallone, Thomas Jane, and Terry Crews

What you may not know about Sylvester Stallone is that he really has an artist's soul. Sure, in the movies he's either beating somebody's head in with his fists or blowing them to pieces with machine guns the size of small planets, but that's not who he is really. And in the upcoming inspirational drama Reach Me he gets to show that softer side we rarely get to see, for better or worse.

All the B-leaguers in Hollywood make up the Reach Me ensemble, which centers on a group of troubled people who are all helped by a mysterious self-help guru's book. Nobody seems to know who the author is, though, or that he has problems of his own. Tom Berenger, Kevin Connolly, Kyra Sedgwick, Nelly, Cary Elwes, Thomas Jane, Terry Crews, Danny Trejo, Kelsey Grammer, Lauren Cohan, Ryan Kwanten and Tom Sizemore star, with John Herzfield (15 Minutes) directing.

Reach Me hits VOD and gets a limited theatrical run beginning November 21st.

The Summer Gets Explosive in 'The Expendables 3' Final Trailer

One thing that can definitively be stated about the first couple of 'Expendables' flicks is that they don't hold a lot of mystery. It's pretty obvious these movies are about bad one-liners, big guns, big muscles, big explosions, and probably big egos (just ask Bruce Willis!) with so many action movie legends in one place. But The Expendables 3 does have one gigantic question mark surrounding it, and that's whether the film will be affected by the recent online leak of the entire movie. The same thing happened with The Expendables and it still did pretty well, but it does throw a potential monkey wrench in Sylvester Stallone's plans to end the trilogy on top.

It's perhaps more crucial than ever now for the marketing push to get ramped up a few gears, and that's exactly what the latest trailer does. Stallone and his version of the Dirty Dozen are back with a few "new" faces like Wesley Snipes (who really wants a Blade 4), Harrison Ford, Kelsey Grammer, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Kellan Lutz, and Ronda Rousey. This is more of what you'd expect but in the midst of stuff getting blowed up there are a few gems, like Rousey kicking butt in a sexy dress and Ford having an "Oops" moment. This should be a lot of un.

Also starring Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Expendables 3 opens August 15th.

Sylvester Stallone, Nelly, and Terry Crews Look for Answers in 'Reach Me' Trailer

"There's no stopping someone that will stop at nothing", begins the trailer for Reach Me, a dramatic ensemble that features Sylvester Stallone in the rare role that doesn't require him to blow anything up or punch someone in the face. It's been nearly two decades since Stallone put on his drama hat in Cop Land, a film that was ripped at the time but has since been recognized as one of the actor's finer performances....at least compared to his latter Rocky, Rambo, and The Expendables efforts. And now Stallone is ready to show what he can do again but the trailer suggests the film may not be up to par.

Stallone is surrounded by a cast that immediately pegs this as something headed for Redbox with the quickness. Kelsey Grammer and Terry Crews (Sly's buds in The Expendables 3), Cary Elwes, Thomas Jane, Ryan Kwanten, Tom Sizemore, Tom Berenger, Kevin Connolly, The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan, Agents of SHIELD's Elizabeth Henstridge, Kyra Sedgewick, ex-New York Giants fullback Jarrod Bunch, Nelly, and Danny Aiello star as a group of people who are all connected by a self help guru's book, but little do they know he's just a reclusive former football coach with his own problems.

John Herzfeld (15 Minutes) directed and wrote the script so if it looks like a poor man's Crash then he's the one to hold responsible. Reach Me will open on October 24th.

New 'The Expendables 3' Trailer Goes on One Last Ride

The summer is here and that means Sylvester Stallone has emptied out his Rolodex for The Expendables 3, the third and final entry in the big guns, big muscles, bigger explosions flick. The usual crew of Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, and Arnold Schwarzenegger are back again, joined by Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Ronda Rousey, Kellan Lutz, and Kelsey Grammer (!?!?). What's the plot? Who knows? The first two movies didn't really have much of a story behind them, so why attempt something new now?

The latest trailer certainly doesn't offer much except the undeniable coolness of seeing Wesley Snipes back in action and alongside Stallone for the first time since Demolition Man. Mel Gibson is the bad guy here as that's apparently all anyone will hire him for, as a former Expendable who has gone to the dark side. Looks like the old guard will be rushing to the aid of the young upstarts, an aspect Stallone probably requested himself, but not before dropping lots of bad one-liners and firing lots of oversized weapons. Patrick Hughes is directing and it does have a more polished look than the previous films.

The Expendables 3 opens August 15th.

Review: 'Blended' Starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore

Of all the lazy and insipid comedies Adam Sandler has done over the years, of which there have been many coming on a regular basis, the one oasis in all of the dreck has been Drew Barrymore. For whatever reason, Sandler and Barrymore have had impeccable chemistry in The Wedding Singer and the passable 50 First Dates, and the two seem to genuinely enjoy one another's company. In general there is no more thankless role in Hollywood than the female lead in a Sandler comedy. Just ask poor Salma Hayek who spent Grown Ups 2literally and figuratively getting pissed on. Barrymore can usually make Sandler bearable, but damn if she doesn't face an uphill battle with Blended.

When the film's biggest gag features a pair of rhinos having sex then you know you're in for a tough sit. It's been noted many times before that Sandler has settled into a comfortable groove of making what are essentially paid vacations with his buddies, and Blendedis no different except its set in Africa. Africa, the exotic locale best known for its fu**ing rhinos and dancing natives. Although neither of these things is funny in the least, despite Sandler and director Frank Coraci's insistence, the real problem is they always come right after a moment we're meant to take seriously. Heaven forbid there is one honest emotion, other than the seething anger you'll feel having wasted two excruciating hours on Blended. That's right, Sandler doesn't even have the decency to chop this thing down to 90 minutes.

To further pound home just how low-rent an experience this is going to be, the story kicks off at a Hooters restaurant, where widower Jim (Sandler) is on a horrendous blind date with the divorced Lauren (Barrymore). Jim's the father of three girls (one of whom played by Disney Channel starlet, Bella Thorne) he's raising as boys, while she's got two wildly out of control sons. Right off the bat you sense the easy connection between Sandler and Barrymore, but the script, which calls for her to chug French Onion dip, doesn't give two craps about their chemistry.

Both parents are out of their league raising kids alone, and they both know it. Jim's oldest daughter is blossoming into a woman and you can see the Tampax joke coming from ten miles away; Lauren's eldest boy is crazy possessive and hopes she'll get back together with her douchey ex-husband (Joel McHale). A maddeningly contrived circumstance forces both families into the same African resort where the kids can squabble and the parents can continue their mutual hatred of one another.

The hatred only lasts until they need to fall in love or something. Don't get mad at me for spoiling what you already knew was coming. The problem is in how they get there, with a series of useless toilet gags in the middle of what is clearly trying to be a family comedy. But that's Sandler for you; to him a joke about masturbation and rhinos having sex is right at home in a heartwarming family film. Only when Barrymore and Sandler share the screen are we treated to genuinely sweet moments when the parents let their guards down and have a good time. Sandler can be a charming romantic lead when given the opportunity, and once in a while we see Barrymore drawing that side of him out, only to have it go away in favor of the overgrown moron. Sandler gives his usual buddies a free IMDB credit with mostly pointless cameos. The only one who seems enthusiastic about it is Shaquile O'Neal, acting just as well today as he did in Kazaam all those years ago. What silly fun there is does not include Terry Crews as the annoying leader of a singer troupe that pops up in practically every scene to semi-narrate the story, because Blended is just so complicated y'know. It's funny at first, in an Eddie Murphy "Sexual Chocolate" sort of way, but by the 10th time you just want him to be trampled by stampeding buffalo.

The major takeaway from Blended is that Sandler and Barrymore desperately need one another, but they need a decent script far more.

Review: 'Draft Day' Starring Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner

If there's one actor most closely associated with the sports movie genre, it's Kevin Costner. If there's a guy who has exemplified the middle-aged, lousy in life but king on the field archetype it's him, and he's done it unabashed classics like Bull Durham and Field of Dreams. But even in the underrated golf comedy, Tin Cup, Costner has excelled at this very specific sort of character, which is why it's been so strange to see him away from it for so long. For me at least, it's a role I've sorely missed seeing, but never would I have thought to see it re-emerge in a football dramedy/thriller like Draft Day.

In a sense, all of those earlier Costner films are a form of wish fulfillment. Wish fulfillment for guys, anyway, where the breaks go exactly right on the green or the home run sails over the fence with glorious perfection, all while some gorgeous woman cheers on from the stands. Draft Day kind of follows that same pattern, except replace the stands with an office and the home runs with draft picks. Think the behind-the-scenes insider jargon of Moneyball mixed with the Cleveland woe of Major League, all wrapped in the effortless branding and gigantic egos of the NFL.

Costner proves he's a natural of the gridiron as much as the baseball diamond, playing Cleveland Browns general manager Sonny Weaver, Jr. Sonny's life is in disarray, and it couldn't happen at a worse time. His father, the team's legendary head coach he was forced to fire a couple of seasons ago, has recently passed away. The tension this decision has created with his mother (Ellen Burstyn) is thicker than an offensive tackle; he's been having a secret romance with the team's salary cap analyst, Ali (Jennifer Garner), who has just revealed she's pregnant; and all of this occurs just as the NFL Draft is mere hours away. Coming off a mediocre year plagued by injury, Sonny is basically given an ultimatum by the team owner (Frank Langella) to "make a splash" at the Draft or risk getting canned.

While the life decisions Sonny is forced to make, like choosing whether he even wants to be a father, are familiar and play out with few surprises, it's the wheeling 'n dealing of big time professional football that really moves the chains. It's new ground for Ivan Reitman, the legendary director of many comedy staples in the 1980s, and he overcompensates when trying to capture the frenetic pace and anxiety of NFL war rooms where every decision literally means millions of dollars. Through a combination of 24-style ticking clocks and split screens that would make Jack Bauer throw up his arms in protest, Reitman zips us through the many internal and external factors intruding in on Sonny's decisions. Taking the ultimate gamble, he decides to mortgage the team's future, trading away three future #1 draft picks to secure the top spot right now. Not only does it send ripples through the league, but what should have made his choice easier only gets tougher.

The consensus #1 choice, and would fit the owner's splash-making criteria, is blue chip quarterback Bo Callahan (Josh Pence), a pretty boy with a hot shot agent (P. Diddy, appropriately) and possible character issues. On the other end of the spectrum is the guy Sonny wants, linebacker and tackling machine Vontae Mack (Chadwick Boseman), a natural team leader and a genuinely good guy. There's also the hometown boy, running back Ray Jennings (played by Houston Oilers RB Arian Foster), whose father (Terry Crews) played for the Browns. Choosing Callahan would make the franchise happy, including their arrogant Super Bowl-winning coach (Denis Leary), but is it necessarily the right thing to do?

So yeah, this is one of those alternate realities where things like morals and personal codes of honor intrude in the high-stakes world of NFL decision making. Like that exists! It's often hokey and preachy, frequently serving as a self-aggrandizing advertisement for the NFL and the purity of its wealthy players. When one player, who is destined to make millions even if he drops a few spots, laments how badly his family needs him to be the #1 pick so he can make more, it's a little tough to sympathize with his "plight". But Sonny is a guy you genuinely want to see succeed, and Costner gives him all of the rough edges we've seen in most of his other genre characters. His chemistry with Garner, at her feistiest for the first time in way too long, is playful and a lot of fun until it comes time to make some tough choices. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones might see a little of himself (okay, a lot) in the performance given by Langella.

But at the same time, Draft Day is an authentic window into the NFL like we've never seen before on the silver screen. There's a certain thrill in actually seeing your team represented as part of the story; their actual team uniforms, logos, stadiums, and players are all there. Even league commissioner Roger Goodell shows up, only to get booed by the Draft's typically rowdy fans. It really does feel like you're being let in on a secret peek behind the curtain, or sitting right there at Radio City Music Hall. While Draft Dayis hardly a Super Bowl champ, NFL fans aching for some football will want to run and check it out.

New Trailer for 'Blended' Starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore

And you thought because there were no Grown Ups movies coming out this summer, the plague of Sandler had somehow passed you by? Tough luck, because there's still Blended, a destined-to-be-unfunny romantic comedy with Drew Barrymore riding shotgun for the third time.

A new trailer has been released that gives us many of the same stale jokes from the last one, but does have a little more Terry Crews which is always a good thing.  Sandler and Barrymore play single parents who go their separate ways after a disastrous blind date, only to wind up at the same African safari with their kids.  Okay, I take it back. Even Crews looks pretty lame in this.

Blended opens on May 23rd.

Terry Crews Expresses Interest in Playing Luke Cage for Marvel

Normally I find these "actor interest" stories pretty pointless and refuse to post them, but an exception will be made in this case for a couple of reasons. One: it involves the always awesome Terry Crews. And two: we already have this cool fan-made poster of Crews as Marvel's Luke Cage.

There has been a lot of talk about Crews possibly taking on the role of Cage in a future Marvel movie, but with the character receiving his own Netflix series it could very well happen. Collider had a chance to talk with Crews while he was doing publicity for Tyler Perry's The Single Mom's Club, and he sounds more than interested...

Crews: “Anything can happen. All I know is scheduling and all that stuff—anything can happen. I’m open to all kinds of things, but who knows? Actually I took myself out of the Luke Cage running a while back, just because it was people trying to put people against each other. [It was] Idris vs. Michael Jai and I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, this is not even greenlit! Can we talk to Marvel? Why are you talking to me? Don’t put me against my homeboy for a movie that’s not existing.’ I said, ‘Take me out!’

“I heard [it’s greenlit] but I haven’t gotten any calls. I’ve been hearing stuff like, ‘oh you’re too old,’ and I’m like, ‘Man do my workout 20 years ago and we’ll talk about who’s too old (laughs).’”

“Like I said, anything can happen, I never rule anything out. I’m game. There are no rules. What’s up, Marvel? I’m right here, baby. I ain’t goin nowhere. You know where I live!”

Crews is currently starring on Fox's cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but I'm willing to bet he'd try to get out of that contract for a plum gig in the Marvel Universe. The plan is for Marvel to produce four 13-episode series beginning with Daredevil, followed by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and then Iron Fist. That will lead to a four or eight-episode miniseries titled The Defenders.

Trailer for Tyler Perry's 'The Single Moms Club' Starring Nia Long and Terry Crews

In a few days Tyler Perry will take a dump all over the holidays with A Madea Christmas, the commercials for which should be enough to keep you away from mall Santas for an eternity. It'll probably reel in some hefty coin, though, and will keep him making other, supposedly more serious movies like The Single Moms Club, which asks him to stop dressing like a woman and start hanging out with them.

The first trailer for the film has been released, and the greatest takeaway from it is the great cast Perry has put together. Starring Nia Long, Wendi McLendon-Covey, the vastly under-utilized Amy Smart, Terry Crews, Eddie Cibrian, and Perry himself (not so great), the film centers on a group of single moms brought together by an incident at their children's school. They form a sort of support group for single parents but it looks like all they really do is try to hook one another up with dates, because apparently that's all single women have to worry about it. Where can they find a man?

So harmless this probably won't be, especially if there's more than one scene of Perry trying to flirt with Nia Long. Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club opens March 14th 2014.

Review: 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2', Starring Bill Hader

Imagine an island where you’d never starve because there are gigantic food portions everywhere. No, the gigantic portions of food are not a reference to Big Macs, though there is a giant cheeseburger spider-thing, complete with fries for legs. If you thought that the first movie had a lot of food, think bigger because Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 really goes all out and gets delightfully creative with the food this time around.

Exactly eight minutes after Flint Lockwood (voice of funnyman Bill Hader) saves the world from enormous food portions, he gets with meteorologist Sam Sparks (voice of Anna Faris) and makes his dad Tim (voice of James Caan) proud. Together with Mr. T-like cop Earl Devereaux (voice of Terry Crews) and former bully Brent (voice of Andy Samberg), the group agrees to work together.

Immediately after the pact, in swoops Chester V (voice of Will Forte), a scientist the likes of Bill Nye the Science guy, only much more sinister in nature. Flint quickly falls for his act of goodwill because he’s admired the scientist his entire life and fanboys over him while Chester takes charge and boots Flint and his friends from the island.

He convinces Flint to join his company, Live Corp, where the younger scientist spends six months attempting to please Chester. Flint is ultimately drawn back to help get rid of the food animals that now inhabit the island. But Flint and his friends begin to question whether that’s the right thing to do.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (and isn’t that a mouthful?) is a different kind of sequel. The first film has Flint seeking approval. The sequel is a quest movie. Flint is on a quest different in nature; one is to destroy, and later help the food animals, and the second is the quest to realize that he now has friends he can trust and doesn’t have to rely on himself anymore.

The characters are actually better rounded this time and evolve in fun ways. Now that they’re all together, the dynamic of the film is much more fun and lighthearted. It’s what the first film kind of lacked and what the sequel has in spades. The voice cast is spot on and Will Forte as Chester V is especially entertaining. You’ll laugh at him and get frustrated with him in the span of five minutes.

The creative team really put in a great effort to bring to life the food animals. Flamangoes, cheese spiders, and a little strawberry named Berry bring amusing and cute touches to the film. Probably the funniest moment comes when the strawberry named Berry translates what Flint is saying to the other food animals. Classic and the highlight of the entire movie. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is better than the original on first watch and will entertain at every age.

New Trailer for 'Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2'

The food puns come fast and often in the latest trailer for Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2, which looks like it hasn't missed a bit with new directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn taking over for Chris Miller and Phil Lord. The story brings back Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) to the town of Shallow Falls, only to discover that the FLDSMDFR's leftover have mutated into nasty food creatures. The controlled chaos of the first film has been replaced by what looks like a fairly simple Jurassic Park-style plot, so maybe this one will appeal to me where the last one definitely didn't.

Featuring the voices of Anna Faris, Terry Crews, Neil Patrick Harris, Andy Samberg, James Caan, and Benjamin Bratt, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 opens on September 27th.

First trailer for 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2'

Let the food puns begin! The first trailer for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, the sequel to 2009's animated hit, has arrived and it looks like it hasn't missed a step. Or a meal, for that matter. Phil Lord and Chris Miller have stepped back into a producer capacity, handing over the directing reins to Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, who have clearly decided to not fix what wasn't broken.

The story brings back inventor Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and his gal pal Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) who return to Swallow Falls where his famous water-to-food machine has begun creating mutant food/animal hybrids. The animation is strong and the quips are clever, so this could be another smash when for Sony's animation division.

Also featuring the voices of Terry Crews, Will Forte, Andy Samberg, Benjamin Bratt, and Neil Patrick Harris, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 gets served up on September 27th.

Expendables casting drama! 50 out...who takes his place?

I'm sorry to anyone that has no interest in this film, as we've been following it with much interest. You know what, I'm not sorry...you should be interested, this movie is gonna be insane. Anyway, following the news last week that Forest Whitaker was being replaced by Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson. I didn't think this was a bad thing, if 50's gonna survive anywhere in film it's gonna be in the action genre. On the tail of that news is the news that Mr. Cent is now OUT of the project, so who's in his place? Terry Crews, thats who! I actually LOVE this news, ever since I saw Terry in such films as Friday After Next, White Chicks, and the supremely underrated Idiocracy as President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho. He always seems to play the guy that is unbelivably menacing but turns out to be incredibly goofy. He's got the physique and look that guys like Carl Weathers had in the 80's and since that's what they are going for here I think he'll fit right in. What do you guys think of this news? Upgrade or Downgrade?
