The Honest Trailer for 'The Expendables' is a Little Too Perfect

When Sylvester Stallone first started putting together The Expendables he made it clear what his mandate for it was. Action heroes of today were soft compared to the rugged stars of his glory years, and the plan was to bring back some of the tough guy machismo of the '80s into the present. But as he rounded up a literal army of aging stars, which was admittedly pretty cool to see altogether (it's not so cool anymore), he forgot to prove exactly why those old movies were so awesome to begin with. The result was The Expendables, a film with a lot of star power and the worst aspects of the bad action movies from yesteryear, and only a few of the good qualities.

Just in time for this weekend's The Expendables 3, the Screen Junkies have delivered another of their hilarious Honest Trailers, this time for The Expendables. And they pretty much nail EVERYTHING the film got wrong. While I find the awful one-liners kind of endearing, the plot is ridiculous by any measure, and there's no excuse for the severe lack of action. But what's really funny about this are the little details which mainly revolve around Stallone's facial hair and incomprehensible dialogue. The description of Terry Crews nearly made me piss myself so I'll leave that for you to discover. And dude, I totally forgot Charisma Carpenter was in the first one! Damn these movies treat women like crap.

Gina Carano joins the female 'Expendables' flick

Even though she's only had one leading role in Steven Soderbergh's Haywire, and audiences largely ignored it, there's no doubt that Gina Carano is the female action star of the future. Hollywood has noticed it, too, which is why she's currently filming Fast & Furious 6, and will star in the genre film In the Blood. Just last month we learned of producer Adi Shankar's plan to develop an all-female version of The Expendables, and Carano would make for an obvious pick for it. So obvious, in fact, that she's the first to officially sign on.

Shankar will be producing the film through his 1984 Private Defense Contractors label, with a script by Dutch Southern. We don't know any plot details yet, but if its anything like the dude Expendables it won't really matter. Crap gets blown up, evil foreign guys get filled with holes while somebody makes a really bad gallows joke.  Carano has shown already she has a nice balance of physicality, sexuality, and humor so she makes for a solid #1 draft pick. Shankar's pretty excited about it...

Shankar: "I don't know how I'm supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of 'The Expendables' without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba."

Welcome to "Really Bad Analogies" starring Adi Shankar. Anyway, Shankar is aiming for all the ladies you'd expect for a film like this: Kate Beckinsale, Milla Jojovich, Michelle Rodriguez, and more. So expect to hear something new soon. [Variety]

Nic Cage will blow sh*t up in 'The Expendables 3'; Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes wanted

Wow, it's already been a busy day talking about The Expendables, which only makes sense considering the sequel opens this weekend. The first film may have been a little disappointing, but it earned over $270M and chances are the sequel will do just as good, if not better. Let down or not, it was undeniably cool seeing all those legends in one place, and Stallone has only upped the ante for The Expendables 2, bringing in Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris. So what can they do to possibly top it?

Producer Avi Lerner sure has the announcer, and while talking to Total Film, he revealed that not only has he already locked up one wild card to join the cast, but he's got his sights set on three action movie legends....

Lerner: “We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters]."

Say what? Are you telling me we might be able to see Rambo, The Terminator, John McClane, The Transporter, Han Solo, Dirty Harry, Frank Dux, Ivan Drago, Walker Texas Ranger and....the guy from Passenger 57 all in one movie? Excuse me while I hit the fainting couch....

Of course, the chances of him actually getting Ford and Eastwood are probably extremely thin, although I could maybe see Ford agreeing if the role is perfect. Snipes doesn't get out of jail until next July, but when he does you know he'll be looking to jump right back into the game, and The Expendables 3 would be a good way to do it. I don't think anyone is surprised that Cage jumped at the chance considering some of the crap he's agreed to lately.  My only question is: Where the heck is Carl Weathers????? How can you not have Action Jackson in the mix??

Lerner also revealed that he wants to bring Mickey Rourke back, assuming he straightens up that attitude which got him booted from the sequel. Seriously, they may need to start killing some of the more boring characters off in order to make room. Looking at you, Randy Couture. Watch out, Liam Hemsworth! We'll see if The Expendables 2 does well enough to warrant another flick when it opens on August 17th.

Sure Shots: Logan's Run; The Expendables 2; James Franco

* Logan's Run is a movie I never wanted to see remade. Sure it's got some mold on it, but I think the themes and ideas are still as relevant as ever. However, if it's going to be done anyway you'll hardly hear me complain about the choices of Nicholas Winding Refn(Valhalla Rising) directing and Ryan Gosling starring. Alex Garland hammered out the last script for the film, but apparently Warner Brothers wants to try something a bit different, bringing in Will Beall to draft a new one. Beall has been on fire lately, especially with WB, who love him right now over his script for Tales From the Gangster Squad.

* Grab your Geritol™, folks! Sylvester Stallone's sequel to The Expendables may not have a director yet, but we do know when it'll explode into movie theaters. The David Agosto and Ken Kaufman scripted actioner will open on August 17th, 2012, going head-to-head with exactly nobody at this point. The only competition right now comes the week before from the GI Joe sequel.  So far all we know about the film is that Stallone will be back. So will Randy Couture, but nobody else is locked in. There's a chance we'll see Bruce Willis and the newly animated Arnold Schwarzenegger return, while Jean-Claude Van Damme has also been rumored. The Expendables earned over $270M worldwide last year.

* James Franco doesn't appear to be slowing down one bit. While he seems to be dipping his toes in every aspect of the film industry right now, he's still taking time to line up future projects. He's just optioned Zeroville as a possible directing gig, but the lead role seems perfect for him as well. The Steve Erickson novel follows Ike Jerome, a 24 year old film fanatic who travels to Hollywood in 1969 to get into the movie business. His shaved head features tattoos of Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift in "A Place in the Sun", Ike becomes a successful film editor whose journey ends in tragedy and horrific discovery. The book features appearances by numerous notable celebrities, like Robert De Niro, Ryan O'Neal, Ali McGraw, and Brian De Palma. Thanks to Variety for details on this story.

Punch Drunk DVDs

Eat Pray Love
As much as I adore Julia Roberts, this would've been a much more enjoyable film if it were titled Eat Prey Love about a killer who stalks candy givers on Valentine's Day. But it's not, and the adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's famous ode to female empowerment and enlightenment is mostly warmed over schlock. Beautiful warmed over schlock, featuring a wonderful performance by Roberts, but schlock nonetheless. Do yourself a favor and don't even attempt to watch this on an empty stomach like I did. Big mistake.

The Expendables
The best thing about Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables wasn't the film itself, it was the year long build-up to it's release. The on set interviews and clips painted a hilarious picture of action hero comraderie that we all hoped would spill over on screen. Did that happen? Well, yes and no.There's no doubt that seeing greats like Sly, Bruce Willis, and Schwarzenegger together for the first time ever is hella fun. But does that scene work like you want it to? Probably not. In fact I think people might be surprised by exactly how much blistering action is actually involved. This one was a game time decision for me but ultimately I landed on the side of buying it with hopes that the sequel lives up to all my lofty expectations.

Madea's Big Happy Family: The Play
Tyler Perry continues to be entirely too comfortable in that getup.

Crank/Crank 2
One of these insane, juiced up action flicks starring everybody's favorite grim faced hero is really awesome. The other is Crank 2: High Voltage. For that price it's a steal, though.

Flipped
How bad have things gotten that we can't get a national theatrical release for a Rob Reiner coming-of-age film? The man practically invented them! Flipped flew in and out of theaters before most people even knew it existed, but hopefully now they'll find this sweet tale of childhood romance.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed
You'd think that a Brit crime thriller featuring the scorching hot Gemma Arterton(Clash of the Titans) could find at least a little bit of traction here in the States but it mostly vanished without so much as a peep. This twisty crime caper features the gorgeous redhead as a woman who is kidnapped by a pair of ex-convicts. I certainly hope the reluctance to push this film further had nothing to do with the open homosexuality of the two perpetrators.

I'm Still Here
Ultimately I had to ask myself "What was the point of all that, really?"  Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck's self destructive mockumentary gained a ton of national attention for the former's supposed fall into terminal neuroses. Phoenix became a public pariah, ruined a perfectly good flick's chances of success(Two Lovers), and then out of nowhere he just reveals it was all a big fake and that he's perfectly normal again. Huh? But as with all movies of this sort, the only thing that matters is whether or not the film is entertaining, and it's definitely one of the most engrossing and disturbing docs I've seen in quite some time. For that reason alone I simply have to recommened it.

The Winning Season
This well-regarded sports drama from last year features a killer cast that would be great in anything other than a flick about girls' basketball: Sam Rockwell, Emma Roberts, Shareka Epps, Emily Rios, and Rooney Mara. Pretty hard to ignore that.

The Sunday Drive: 8/15/10

3. Eat Pray Love
Don't go on an empty stomach. That's all I'm sayin'. Ryan Murphy(Glee, Nip/Tuck) has adapted Elizabeth Gilbert's female empowering memoir into a luscious, beautiful film. Julia Roberts glows as the globe-trotting writer, on a life changing journey to rediscover the most important things in life.

2. The Expendables
Let's be honest, The Expendables is a straight-to-DVD action flick if anybody else is starring in it. But that's sorta the point, isn't it? The cast is phenomenal, featuring an all-star cast of muscled, grunting action heroes each with their own cheesy name and weapon of their choice. It's big, chiseled action with a super high body count and enough explosions to make Michael Bay jealous. That's what it's all about, right?

1. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Possibly the most innovative experience you'll have all summer. Edgar Wright's film could be dismissed as just another comic book movie, but that would be oh so far off. Michael Cera stars as the titular hero, a somewhat below average guy who's got an above average problem. His new girl, Ramona, has a checkered past which is coming back to haunt them in the form of 7 evil exes that must be defeated before Scott can truly win her heart. The perfect film for anybody who grew up not just playing video games and reading comics, but for those who have made those things an integral part of their lives.

DVD Pick of the Week: The Joneses
Have you ever had that one perfect family move into your neighborhood? The one who seems to have it all put together? Great house, great car, beautiful kids, and they were always on the cutting edge of every trend before everybody else? Y'know, that family that was just too perfect to be true? David Duchovny and Demi Moore star as the heads of a family that fits this description. The catch being that they're not really a family at all. They're marketing creations, a fake family put together and moved into an upper crust neighborhood, given all the latest toys, clothes, and gadgets in order to impress their rich friends and boost sales. Director Derrick Borte brings this unique concept to fruition with sharp, insightful humor but also a tinge of dread that this might actually be happening in our own world.  For more on The Joneses, be sure to check out the interview we had with him back in April.

The Expendables

How long have we all been waiting for this week to come? For that first laconic quip. That first shotgun blast. That first body slam, that first knife fight. Whatever. Ever since The Expendables was first whispered about, our heads have been full of the possibilities. I was no different than anyone else, and if I could show you it'd be pretty obvious that we've written more stories about this film than anything else over the past year. Sylvester Stallone's muscular, brawny action extravanga is overflowing with more battle hardened movie heroes than my little brain could ever imagine. With the likes of Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Bruce Willis and more riding shotgun, The Expendables should be the greatest action film ever assembled. And it is. For about fifteen minutes.

Let's be honest, nobody cares about the plot of this movie, right? We're meant to be driven to the edge of testosterone filled excitement, not obsessing over what these guys are actually fight for. Right? Even so the plot is so thin it's almost non-existent. Stallone plays Barney Ross, an aging but still jacked former military guy and leader of a pack of wild mercenaries known as The Expendables. His right hand man is pinpoint knife wielder Lee Christmas(Jason Statham); following in their shadow are Yin Yang(Jet Li); the looney tunes Gunner Jensen(Dolph Lundgren); Toll Road(Randy Couture); and Hale Caesar(Terry Crews). I'm serious. Those are the names, folks.

The film opens with an establishing standoff, Stallone's crew vs. a bunch of Somali pirates holding some people captive. After a round of jaw jacking, the first vicious kill(a pirate split open like a baked potato from a gun blast) should've set the stage for 90 minutes of over-the-top gratuitous violence. Rather than jumping from that vicious battle into even bigger and bloodier scenarios, we get to watch Christmas get his heart steamrolled by his cheating ex-girlfriend(Charisma Carpenter), then Mickey Rourke(as a former Expendable named Tool!) shows up to wax caveman poetic about the mental toll of killing. Even though it pulls the brakes on any momentum the story was building, Rourke's scene can't help but remind you of the emotional depths he plundered in The Wrestler.

As if encapsulating everything that's both right and wrong with this flick in one single scene, Barney is approached by a mysterious figure named Mr. Church(Bruce Willis) to take on a deadly suicide mission nobody else seems to be up for. Not even Barney's distinguished competition, Trench(Arnold Schwarzenegger), wants in on it. Church hires them to take out a ruthless South American dictator(Eric Roberts). That's all you really need to know about that. It's undeniably cool seeing these three together even if only for a few minutes. But the scene has no pop. You expect a combination of Stallone, Willis, and the Governator to be so combustible it burns through the screen. Instead it was like a bunch of really old friends who just finished a round of golf.

Putting together a cast this iconic couldn't have been easy. Rather, finding enough screen time to make sure everyone got their moment in the sun couldn't have been easy. The years haven't been kind to Stallone, and he looks like he's aged about 10 years since 2008'sRambo. Statham is the only guy out of this group with a legit action career that's on the rise, and so you'd expect him to carry most of the action. He does get one scene to establish how much of a badass he is, but mostly everybody else is left behind. Jet Li scores most of the jokes as the fastest, but tiniest man in the group(he's short so he has to travel farther and should be paid more). For the most part Couture and Crews are afterthoughts. Where's the comraderie? The brotherhood? We only get that out of Stallone and Statham, but nobody else. The Losers were a much tighter knit group than this.

Once all the talking is done and we get past the distractingly awful script(which underwent numerous rewrites, and it shows), The Expendables eventually turns into the symphony of chaos and destruction and bad puns that we all hoped for. It's what we always wanted. Everything seems to have been constructed out of gun powder and vodka. Enemies are dispatched in a shower of blood and body parts that would make Eli Roth do a double take. If you're a guy and you have a set then you're going to mark out when Terry Crews gets his moment in the sun. Wrestling and UFC fanatics get that long awaited battle between Randy Couture and Stone Cold Steve Austin they never asked for. It's actually quite awesome and easily the best fight of the flick.

It's all pretty predictable. Everything you expect to happen does in fact happen. The bad guy is a douche. The good guys come knockin'. Stuff blows up real good. Men grunt. Women swoon and take their place on the back of Harleys. I get it. That's exactly what The Expendables is supposed to be. It's like one big bloody soap opera for dudes, and despite all its many faults I was still smiling throughout the whole thing. It's stupid, dumb action. When the DVD drops I'll be the first one to run out and buy it. When it's on cable and I run across it chances are pretty good the channel surfing will end.

It's pretty much a given that we'll see a sequel, with the promise of even more big names to join in on the fun. I pray Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal pull their heads out of their butts long enough to enlist. Kurt Russell passed on an appearance this time, but will he do so a second time? The possibilities are endless. Besides, as the biggest star of everybody involved, The Expendables can never truly end until Arnold has a chance to utter his famous words, "I'll be back".  And so will they.

The Expendables: A Call to Arms for All Men

I'm going to work under the assumption that this is a fan made trailer. You won't find any studio that would allow their films to be the subject of ridicule like all those chick flicks are in this one. Plus the cussing is a dead giveaway. Whether it's real or fake, I don't really care because the challenge is legit! We're men! We HAVE to make sure The Expendables is the #1 movie it's opening weekend. If your girlfriend causes a fuss and wants to go see Eclipse for the millionth time instead, kindly point her in the direction of the nearest kitchen and make sure she stays there.

Uh, just kidding. Women are awesome and deserve our respect. Ahem. This is a brilliant trailer, though. August 13th is right around the corner!!

Wanna Know how Awesome The Expendables Is?

It's being censored in the United Kingdom. That's how awesome it is. Sylvester Stallone's action hero packed flick, due to storm theaters on August 13th, has already been granted a hard 'R' rating for strong action and blood violence here in the United States. Yes!!  But the UK, which uses a far different rating scheme than our MPAA, settled upon a rating of '15' instead of the much harsher '18'.

Liongate UK decided that they didn't want the film to gain the '18' rating because it would've had a detrimental effect on profits. I can understand that. It has to suck for our friends from across the pond, but that's the way the bottle spills, I guess.

So what was the scene that threatened to give The Expendables the dreaded '18'?  A two second shot of one of Stallone's gang twisting a knife into some poor loser's neck. That's what got cut to secure a '15'.

There's a larger issue that I'm sure some could make about our two cultures that it's perfectly exceptable to Lionsgate that the film get an 'R' rating here, but in the UK where it's less tolerated they find it unacceptable. But I don't really care about all that. I always just want the creator's full artistic vision, amped up violence and all. Let me decide later if it's gratuitous or not.

Check out the newest trailer for The Expendables!

I don't think we really have to say anything else about The Expendables. Taking a look at our past posts, nothing has been written about more, and it's not even close. It's the greatest assemblage of action heroes this side of the Justice League, and everyone of these guys could kick Aquaman's ass. The latest trailer is more of a cast hype up than anything else, but it's still hella cool. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think! August 13th can't come fast enough.

Two New Posters for THE EXPENDABLES!

It seems that as we've drawn nearer to the release of The Expendables, potentially the greatest action movie evah, news has gotten more scarce. Back in October(has it been that long already????) we got the first full trailer for the Stallone-led flick. At ShoWest this week, the trailer was shown before a screening of Kick-Ass, which one can make make the assumption that it will be the same when Kick-Ass hits theaters next month. Also, Lionsgate premiered two new posters for The Expendables, which you can check out below. Enjoy.

The Expendables stars Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lungren, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke, and features cameos by Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's scheduled to be released on August 13, 2010.

Thanks to Slashfilm for cool poster shots!

The Expendables promo trailer Blows up the Internet!!

Yeah, it's a bootleg! So what? Who cares?? It's THE EXPENDABLES! This movie is like the Justice League of action movies. It's basically every action star you can think of cramming bicep to bicep into a screen too small to contain so many personalities. We're talkin' Stallone, Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lungren...and that's not even half of it. But you guys know all this already. We've been bowing down at the altar of this film since day one, and this promo only signals just how close we are to it's actual arrival. The video might suck ass, but the promo looks pretty friggin' awesome. Check it out and see for yourself!

More Expendables Set Pics

Photobucket

Here are some more pics from the set of The Expendables courtesty of Ethelmae's Blog. Nothing really ground breaking but a cool pic of Sly and Jason Statham walking around disguised as tourists. Is it just me or is Statham bigger than usual?

Follow The Expendables on Twitter!

Everybody's gotten into the Twitter thing, even apparently the publicist for the greatest action move OF ALL TIME!! Yes, you can follow the goings on during the shooting of Sly Stallone's upcoming actioner, The Expendables, by clicking right.....here! Curious about how Jason Statham's abs look while he's on the set? Well, now you will know.

Another day, another 'Expendables' post

Sorry guys, I feel like I've only done The Expendables posts for the last month. What can I say, there's not much other news out there. Anyway, I came across this little tidbit right from Sylvester at the 'StalloneZone', seems he tried to get Kurt Russell to join the movie but was less than successful. Ehh, this doesn't bother me one bit. Yeah I love Kurt Russell and he was great in many action movies..I mean the guy is Snake Plissken for God's sake. However I never put him in the circle of the 'Testostorone Team' of the 80's, even though he did do Tango and Cash with Stallone. The most interesting part of this whole thing is how douchbaggy Russell apparently was when asked to join the movie by, what I would assume to be, an old buddy. Here's the post from Stallone:
I know that many people on the site have asked for Kurt Russell. I asked for him too. Actually, I was taken aback when asked to put the request in a letter and send it to his agent. Subsequently, I was called back by the agent several days later after refusing to send a letter and he said Kurt Russell is not interested in ‘ensemble acting’ at this time.

So, People, I came, I saw, I failed.

Best,
Sly

Really? Kurt, the last big thing you did was Death Proof. You're gonna let your possibly last big role be Stuntman Mike? Even if it is an "ensemble acting" gig it's a hell of an ensemble and an event of a film.

Expendables casting drama! 50 out...who takes his place?

I'm sorry to anyone that has no interest in this film, as we've been following it with much interest. You know what, I'm not sorry...you should be interested, this movie is gonna be insane. Anyway, following the news last week that Forest Whitaker was being replaced by Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson. I didn't think this was a bad thing, if 50's gonna survive anywhere in film it's gonna be in the action genre. On the tail of that news is the news that Mr. Cent is now OUT of the project, so who's in his place? Terry Crews, thats who! I actually LOVE this news, ever since I saw Terry in such films as Friday After Next, White Chicks, and the supremely underrated Idiocracy as President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho. He always seems to play the guy that is unbelivably menacing but turns out to be incredibly goofy. He's got the physique and look that guys like Carl Weathers had in the 80's and since that's what they are going for here I think he'll fit right in. What do you guys think of this news? Upgrade or Downgrade?

More Expendables news...right from Sly

Thanks to AICN.com for posting this information. Apparently Forest Whitaker has been replaced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. Apparently some people are upset about this but I'm thinking if 50 is going to make his stamp anywhere in the movie world it would be in action flicks, plus Whitaker isn't really in fighting shape. Did anyone take him seriously as a Samurai in Ghost Dog. We also get some character names and clarifications, check the below letter from Sly to Harry of AICN for more.

Dear Harry,

Below is a letter that I sent to the Stallone Zone that I had also wanted to
send to you because I have the same loyalty to your site as well. Anyway, it
might temper preconceived opinions.

Thank you and best,
Sly

P.S. Also, for clarification:
Hale Caesar is Curtis Jackson
Toll Road (new character) is Randy Couture
Monroe is Eric Roberts
Tool (an ex-Expendable) is Mickey Rourke
Bao is Jet Li
Lee Christmas is Jason Statham
Lacy is Charisma Carpenter
Sandra is Giselle Itie (famous Brazilian actress)
And
Barney 'the schizo' Ross is Yours Truly.

P.S.S. By the way, there's enough testosterone and ego in this film to float
a large continent covered in elephants, but I'm enjoying it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Craig,

I appreciate the incredible amount of work you've done on my behalf. Please
tell the loyal followers to be positive not negative in their feedback. I am
not self-destructive. The anger of the casting of 50 Cent is understandable,
but not fair. A player is only as good as his coach. If a man can
communicate in one medium, he can communicate in another if his strengths
are brought out and he has the support of well-wishers. So, trust me, the
change of Forest Whitaker to 50 Cent AKA Curtis Jackson is a good one. No
one thought Dolph Lundgren was a good choice for ROCKY or Mr. T. Carl
Weathers was an afterthought when Ken Naughton fell out. The same with Talia
Shire and Richard Crenna, who was known as a comedic actor, not a serious
one.

Nobody wanted Eric Roberts over Ben Kingsley, but I believe it's a vastly
improved casting. The point is, you either believe in me and the project,
setting your personal feelings aside, or you take a darker approach, which
really serves no purpose since your insight and suggestions and overall
enthusiasm are a great thrill for me to behold everyday I sign on.

Signing off -

Your friend,
Sly

I really love Sly's connecting with sites like aint it cool and not because he's promoting his brand but because he actually seems genuine in the fact that he wants to connect with his fans. He also seems to be truly passionate about the things he does. I suppose it was because of his roles...Rocky, John Rambo, etc. but up until a few years ago I always took Sly for a meathead type. Really he seems quite the opposite, I mean the dude did win an Oscar for Rocky which he wrote. Also of note is the hillarious note that this movie has enough testostorone to float an island of elephants, haha.

UPDATE: Just got word that a release date of April 23rd, 2010 has been announced. So a little more than a year to go!

'Expendables' adds some sauce to the mix

I was never a big 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' or 'Angel' fan, but I have ALWAYS been a fan of Charisma Carpenter. Something about her halfway exotic look that just captivated me, not to mention the perfect body. So, she was a 90's staple with whom I was enamored (albeit in a different way), why should I be suprised that she has signed on to The Expendables. Unfortunatley Cinematical is reporting that she will play Jason Statham's girlfriend, which disappoints me a bit. She really seems the kind of beautiful woman that could hold her own in a gun fight, or at least be made to look like she could. Here's hoping she's more that just eye candy..though I suppose that wouldnt be all bad...camo bikini and machine gun anyone?
