I get a little worried when movies high on my anticipated list get saddled with terrible release dates. That's definitely the case with Man On a Ledge, the heist thriller that packs an impressive top-to-bottom cast with Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris, Jamie Bell, Genesis Rodriguez, Anthony Mackie, Kyra Sedgewick, and Ed Burns(looking like he just walked off the Confidence set). The January 13th 2012 date might be a blessing, because if this new trailer is any indication, Man on a Ledge might be the big fish in a pretty tiny pond.
Directed by Asger Leth, the story centers on an ex-cop, charged with a crime he says he didn't commit. But when he threatens to kill himself by jumping off a Manhattan highrise, the NYPD sends out a sexy negotiator(Banks, looking miscast) to talk him down. Little does she or anybody else know, the threat is just a cover while a massive diamond heist takes place nearby.
When this was first announced, I had expectations it would be a higher grade of crime pic, maybe in the vein of The Bank Job. Um, no. That's not what this is at all. It's a straight up popcorn flick, with lots of overacting and bad haircuts. And you know what? I can't wait. Check out the trailer below...
