Rumor: Sgt. Slaughter to appear in G.I. Joe: Retaliation?
Y'know, this rumor is probably full of sh*t but it's so cool I really couldn't care less. Comicbookmovie received a tip from someone who claims to have worked on the film and says that the real life Sgt. Slaughter will appear in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The WWE Hall of Famer is also the most popular GI Joe figure of all-time and has been a mainstay of the comics and the cartoons, usually leading a team known as the Renegades.
The tipster notes that it was all an idea by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who thought it'd be cool to get his old wrestling buddy into the film. The Joe squad would be on the run from Cobra, and Roadblock(Johnson) says he knows a place where they can hide out, with the man who trained him in the first place. That turns out to be Slaughter.
Pretty sweet if it's true, and new director Jon Chu(Step Up 2) has proven to be an old school GI Joe fan, so he'd probably jump at the chance.
We should be seeing a trailer for the sequel tomorrow, unfortunately through Entertainment Tonight. The film will debut on June 29th 2012.
