Trailer Time: Wrath of the Titans, starring Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson

First of all, who gave the thumbs up to the awful cover of "Sweet Dreams" that curses this trailer for Wrath of the Titans? Heads should be rolling. Otherwise, it looks like a fairly capable, straight forward sequel to last year's hit, Clash of the Titans, known primarily for setting the 3D movement back a couple of years. Nobody was exactly crying to see more of Sam Worthington as battle-weary demigod, Perseus, but with $500M banked it was bound to happen.

Jonathan Liebesman, who found success earlier this year with Battle: Los Angeles, takes over the helm and to me that's a lateral move. Both he and Leterrier are very similar directors, so the difference maker is going to be how the 3D stacks up. Warner Brothers wisely decided to shoot this one using the technique, rather than rushing it through in post. So maybe now I'll be able to tell what those gigantic monsters look like rather than squinting through the blur.

Most of the principle players are back, including Liam Neeson(without his glistening armor and "Release the Kraken!!" mission statement) as Zeus, and Ralph Fiennes again playing the villain as Hades. The two contentious sibling gods find themselves faced with destruction when humanity's lack of faith begins to cause them to lose power and control over the Titans, their imprisoned predecessors. Yes, the plot is remarkably similar to Immortals, only there shouldn't be anybody here with a golden bra on their head. I think. Rosamund Pike plays Andromeda, the woman Perseus saved from the Kraken ten years earlier. Bill Nighy is Hepahestus, a fallen member of the gods who also aids in the quest. Edgar Ramirez and Toby Kebell are two other new additions to the cast.

Wrath of the Titans isn't that far away, opening on March 30th. For now, settle for the new trailer below....
