'Star Wars' TV series gets a title; plot details revealed

Well, there's good news and bad news for those eagerly awaiting any news on the ambitious, super expensive live-action Star Wars TV series that has been talked about seemingly forever now. The bad news is that there hasn't been much movement since we heard last year that production was halted due to the extreme costs involved. We've seen numerous series end before their time simply for being too expensive(Battlestar Galactica, Blade), so it doesn't make sense to jump into a project as big as this if there isn't money to be made.

The good is is that producer Rick McCallum seems pretty confident those problems will clear up soon. McCallum has had his hand in other Star Wars related projects, primarily the popular animated Clone Wars series on the Cartoon Network. While talking to IGN, McCallum reiterated that the series would take place between Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars, during the 20 year span when Luke Skywalker is growing up...

McCallum: "They take place between Episode III and Episode IV. That 20 year period when Luke is growing up. It's not about Luke, but it's about that period when the Empire is trying to take things [over]."

He also revealed that the series is going under the working title of Star Wars: Underworld, and a lot of the focus would be on the gangs, bounty hunters, and other criminal elements running rampant throughout the empire. Supposedly, more than 50 scripts have already been written, but until it gets a greenlight none of that matters. Pretty sweet title, though. I hope it sticks.
