Has 'The Dark Tower' found a new home?

The door may not be shut on The Dark Tower, after all. Just one day after Warner Bros. decided to pass on the expensive package put together by Ron Howard, Brian Grzer, and Akiva Goldsman, Deadline now reports that Media Rights Capital is in serious talks to take over.  The company is rolling in cash right now thanks to the overwhelming success of Seth MacFarlane's Ted, and is looking for a way to capitalize on that. Obviously, The Dark Tower would be their biggest acquisition yet, and would put them in line to be a major player for a long time. They already have Neill Blomkamp's Elysium next on their agenda.

The big sticking point with The Dark Tower has been that it basically encompasses a number of years, a huge financial investment, and has a lot of moving parts.  Ron Howard would direct the initial film, with Akiva Goldsman writing, but that's just one piece of the puzzle. The project would ultimately include three feature films and at least two TV seasons. HBO has previously been in the running to handle the television portion. All of this proved to be too much of a gamble for Universal and Warner Bros, even with Russell Crowe circling the lead role of gunslinger, Roland Deschain.

I think anyone who picks this up is going to have a potential Lord of the Rings-level hit on their hands, if Howard and Grazer can keep a firm grip on the reins. I expect we'll have an answer on all of this soon!
