What would happen if David Copperfield went up against Criss Angel in some sort of old school vs. new school magician duel? Probably not a lot, actually. They'd probably be reduced to bad puns and insidery insults only familiar to those who pull rabbits out of hats, but it would be interesting to see. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone kind of imagines what that confrontation would look like in this first clip, which boasts a lot of comedic talent jammed in one room.
The scene highlights the tension between failing magician Burt Wonderstone (Carell) and his younger, more arrogant rival, Steve Gray (Carrey). While the jabs aren't really all that funny, I like the dynamic between the two stars, and Alan Arkin chiming in at the end goes a long way. We'll see if they can keep it up for the length of the entire film.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone opens on March 15th and co-stars Steve Buscemi and Olivia Wilde.
