Rupert Wyatt won't be directing 'The Equalizer'

Guess who else won't be directing Sony's remake of 1980s TV series, The Equalizer? Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt, who entered talks for the job just last month. He's apparently pulled out of negotiations, and frankly it doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Wyatt's dance card is pretty full, as he's set to direct the WWI drama, Birdsong, which has Nicholas Hoult lined up to star. He'll also take on the pilot for AMC's Turn, so time was always going to be an issue. The Equalizer still has Denzel Washington set to star, but it's now 0 for 3 on directors with Paul Haggis and Nicolas Winding Refn pulling out previously.

So the search continues. Any ideas on who would be a good fit? [Deadline]
