Two new clips from 'The Kings of Summer'

By now it should be obvious that I'm a big fan of Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Sundance hit, The Kings of Summer. We've been championing it for awhile as a fresh take on the coming-of-age genre, full of wonderfully real performances, tons of big laughs, and an attention to detail that most comedies don't bother with anymore.

While the heart and soul of the film are the terrific performances by young leads Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, and Moises Arias, the veteran supporting players are just as effective. Two new clips have emerged that showcase the talents of husband/wife duo Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally. In one, Mullally plays the awkwardly overbearing mother to Basso's character, who gets fed up at the constant teasing and set out to live in the woods with his buddies. The other clip features Offerman haggling with the Chinese food delivery guy over the size of his won ton soup. While it may seem a little ridiculous, it provides a bit of insight into why his son chose to run away rather than live under his roof.

If you're living in the Washington DC area and want to attend an advance screening, simply go here, follow the simple instructions and we will hook you up. Also, be sure to stay tuned for my interview with Vogt-Roberts, which will be airing on Cinema Royale in the next few days. The Kings of Summer opens in limited release on May 31st, everywhere else on June 7th.
