Growing Up Is Optional For Kristen Bell In First 'The Lifeguard' Trailer

While most of Kristen Bell's fans are probably most excited about her return to Neptune in the Veronica Mars movie, currently filming right now by the way, they also have a chance to see her take on her first major dramatic role later this summer. The Lifeguard debuted at Sundance and largely went unnoticed, but given Bell's current exploits now is the perfect time to release the first trailer and create a few waves.

Marking the directorial debut by TV vet Liz W. Garcia (Wonderfalls), The Lifeguard has Bell as a 29-year old (she's not 30!!!) New York woman who leaves her unhappy life as a reporter and returns to live with her parents in Connecticut. There she takes a job as a lifeguard and enters into a relationship with a hunky teenager, further cementing her current state of arrested development. It's a story we saw very recently in the excellent and vastly underrated Hello I Must Be Going, and this seems to be hitting on many of the same themes. But with a cast that includes Martin Starr (Party Down reunion!!!), Mamie Gummer, Alex Shaffer (Win Win), and Amy Madigan, perhaps it's worth keeping an eye out for.

The Lifeguard comes to the rescue on August 30th.
