New 'X-men: Days of Future Past' Promos Highlight Blink, Magneto, Mystique, and Wolverine

As X-men: Days of Future Past has been holding premieres all around the world (that's where the recent Gambit news emerged), they've also been releasing new "power pieces" featuring the mutant cast. We already saw one featuring Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and now there are more that put Blink (Fan Bingbing), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) in the spotlight.

Of them all, the only new character is Blink, who at one time was one of the most popular characters Marvel had. She's gifted with the ability to create temporal portals which she can use to teleport or teleport others, and as you can see in the footage Blink has honed them to work quite well in battle.

X-men: Days of Future Past opens on May 23rd, directed by Bryan Singer.

Watch the Sentinels Attack in 'X-men: Days of Future Past' Opening Battle

Fear. Injustice. Prejudice. Throughout the entire run of Marvel's X-men comics these are the societal issues the team of mutants have fought against in the name of Charles Xavier. No amount of mutant powers can change them easily, and in fact, mutant powers tend to make the problems worse. But a physical threat the team has consistently battled, that seems to evolve constantly over the years, are the giant robot Sentinels, and they make their presence felt in a big way in Bryan Singer's X-men: Days of Future Past.

The film is based on Chris Claremont's epic comics run, which has the future basically overrun by Sentinels as the result of a mutant crime in the past. This clip features the opening battle from the film, pitting Bishop (Omar Sy), Blink (Fan Bingbing), Sunspot (Adan Canto), Warpath (Boo Boo Stewart), Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) trying to survive the Sentinel attack. It's a pretty awesome scene, and what I dig the most is that we see a proper use of everybody's powers, like when Bishop powers up off Sunspot's flame energy.

X-men: Days of Future Past opens May 23rd.

Benjamin Walker and Ben Lloyd-Hughes Find 'The Moon and the Sun'

One played the axe-wielding President in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the other was a member of Dauntless in Divergent, but now Benjamin Walker and Ben Lloyd-Hughes find themselves in another fantasy adaptation.

Variety reports the two actors will join the previously-cast Pierce Brosnan, Fan Bingbing, and Kaya Scodelario in The Moon and the Sun, based on Vonda McIntyre's novel. Directed by Sean McNamara (Soul Surfer), the film follows King Louis XIV, who is determined to protect the future of France by reigning for all eternity. His search for immortality leads him to capture and steal the life force from a mermaid, but soon his 18-year-old illegitimate daughter discovers the mystical creature and strikes up a friendship with her."  Suffice it to say this isn't the King Louis story you'll find on The History Channel.

The Moon and the Sun will open in 2015. [THR/Variety]

New Footage in 'X-men: Days of Future Past' Teaser; Trailer Debuts Next Week

With about 200 mutants zipping in and out of Bryan Singer's X-men: Days of Future Past, it's surprising we haven't seen more trailers to give them all a little time. Fortunately that's going to change in a week when a new trailer hits, and to further sell the overstuffed superhero sequel an Instagram teaser has been released. There are bits of new footage in the cleverly-designed promo, which surprisingly does not feature Michael Fassbender's Magneto. It does give us a brief look at new characters Bishop (Omar Sy) and Blink (Fan Bingbing). There's also Halle Berry as Storm, who may or may not have had her scenes drastically reduced.

X-men: Days of Future Past opens May 23rd, followed by X-men: Apocalypse and then The Wolverine 2.

New teaser for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' gives a glimpse of Evan Peters as Quicksilver

So are people really excited for X-Men: Days of Future Past? BECAUSE I AM REALLY EXCITED FOR X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. And the new video clip released on Instagram today has only fueled my fangirl-ing even more.

To be honest, it's not like there is that much new stuff in this video, which is really just a brief teaser. We get Michael Fassbender as young Magneto again, we get James McAvoy as young Professor X again, we get Jennifer Lawrence as young Mystique again (looking very period-appropriate in her '70s gear, I must say). But we are getting a couple of first glimpses, including of Quicksilver, who in this film will be played Emma Roberts' fiance Evan Peters. (In the Marvel films, the role will be played by Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson.) Anyway, here's a screengrab of Peters:

And here are the other new X-Men we see in the teaser; from left to right, that's teleporting mutant Blink (Fan Bingbing), super-strong and super-fast Warpath (Booboo Stewart, of Twilight fame), and the solar power-absorbing Sunspot (Adan Canto):

Check out the rest of the clip for yourself, if you're so inclined; Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Ian McKellen as older Magneto, and Shawn Ashmore as Iceman also make an appearance. X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23, 2014.

Jackie Chan and Sean William Scott Team for Action-Comedy 'Skiptrace'

Remember when Hollywood was actively trying to make Seann William Scott happen? Somebody thought that guy who played Stifler in American Pie really needed to break out, and Scott was soon placed as comic relief in a string of action movies. To be fair he was pretty good in The Rundown opposite Dwayne Johnson, but Bulletproof Monk with Chow Yun-Fat was a high-profile dud, and now years later it looks like Scott is heading back into similar territory again.

In the strangest casting announcement of the day (so far, it's still early), Scott will join Jackie Chan and Fan Bingbing (X-men: Days of Future Past) in Skiptrace. The action-comedy is based on an original idea by Chan, who has assembled an army of five writers to pen the story in which he'll play a Hong Kong detective on a crime boss's trail for over a decade. Bingbing will play his niece who is wrapped up in the syndicate, while Scott will do what he does best, portraying a fast-talking American gambler who gets mixed up in the investigation.

And the final oddball twist? The film will be directed by animator Sam Fell, who helmed last year's ParaNorman. It sounds like Chan is trying to relive his Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon days, and whatever you think of those movies (not a fan of them, personally) they made a ton of money. So this is worth keeping an eye on even if it sounds like a potential train wreck.[Variety]

Bryan Singer cleverly confirms Bishop, Blink, and Warpath for 'X-men: Days of Future Past'

Bryan Singer has expertly used both Twitter and Vine to keep us up to date on all of the latest info on X-men: Days of Future Past. He seems to be at his most clever when it comes to revealing new cast members, such as when he casually revealed the return of Daniel Cudmore as Colossus. Now he's taken to Vine and showed off a semi-circle of director's chairs for the cast, and there are a few characters we weren't previously sure about.

The video includes the names we're all familiar with, from Storm (Halle Berry) to Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page), but mixed in there are James "Warpath" Proudstar, Bishop, and Blink. Omar Sy has been rumored to be playing the time-lost X-man Bishop since he came aboard, so that may have turned out to be true. Bishop hails from the future, but in the comics had little to do with the storyline the film is  based on. However, in the animated series he was one of the reasons why the dystopic future the X-men are trying to prevent occurs.

It's likely that Boo Boo Stewart is taking on the role of Warpath, considering they are both Native American. He grew to hate the X-men after his brother Jim  "Thunderbird"Proudstar was killed on a mission, so James instead joined The White Queen and her team of Hellions. He eventually came back and fought in X-force.

The speculation has been all along that Fan Bingbing would be taking on Blink, a teleporting mutant who became one of Marvel's most popular characters after she died saving a team of young X-men known as Generation X. So Marvel brought her back in the Age of Apocalypse storyline,  grown up and considerably tougher.

How Singer expects to manage so many characters is anybody's guess, but it's going to be a challenge making sure nobody gets shafted on screen time. X-men: Days of Future Past opens on July 18th 2014.

Daniel Cudmore back as Colossus; Fan Bingbing is Blink in 'X-men: Days of Future Past'

Bryan Singer has been pretty awesome with his use of Twitter lately, especially when to comes to keeping us apprised of X-men: Days of Future Past's production. Today he posted the above image featuring head shots of the principle cast, and there are a couple of new additions along with one powerful returnee.

Daniel Cudmore, who played the organic steel hero Colossus in X-2 and X-men: The Last Stand has been confirmed as one of them. The lovely Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is another, and Deadline says she'll be taking on the role of Blink. That's an interesting one, as Blink is a teleporter, but a very different sort of one than Nightcrawler was. In the comic she started out as a child, who sacrificed her life to save the young mutants of Generation X. An adult version of Blink would re-emerge years later in an alternate timeline ruled by Apocalypse, eventually finding her way into the "normal" timeline. Apocalypse has been rumored to be a potential villain in the film. Bingbing has a small role in Iron Man 3, and if you look closely at the latest trailer you can see her. The last new face on the wall is Boo Boo Stewart, who recently played Seth Clearwater in The Twilight Saga.

Pretty awesome to have Colossus back, and it makes sense because Singer teased him so well with his first appearance. There seem to be a lot of gaps on that wall, so there may be more announcements to come. Starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellen, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, and Omar Sy, X-men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on July 18th 2014.

Is Fan Bingbing the latest Chinese star to join 'Iron Man 3'?

The Chinese are taking over Stark Industries. When China's DMG Entertainment came aboard to co-produce Iron Man 3 last month, there was a pretty clear mandate from Disney that the film was going to have a major international flavor. Not only would it be shot partially in China, but immediately we heard that Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau(Infernal Affairs) would be joining the cast as a colleague of Tony Stark(Robert Downey Jr.). Now there may be one more about to get in on the action.

Yahoo! Singapore(via Twitch) have heard that mainland Chinese star, Fan Bingbing, has been contacted about joining Iron Man 3, which is set to kick off production this summer. The goal is to use this partnership between Disney and DMG, along with the film itself, to help push Chinese stars onto the international stage. Bingbing has made it no secret her desire to do just that, so this makes for a logical fit. Other Chinese stars have been contacted as well, although the story notes that a producer at DMG wouldn't admit that Lau was one of them. So maybe the announcement of his being in talks was premature? Bingbing is probably best known here for starring in films alongside Jackie Chan, such as The Twins Effect II and Shaolin.

Directed by Shane Black, we know that the film will be based on the Extremis storyline from the comics, and involves Tony Stark battling nanobyte powered foes. Chinese culture will also feature prominently, so don't be surprised if the Great Wall gets blown to smithereens.  Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rebecca Hall, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, and Jon Favreau will co-star. Iron Man 3 is expected to hit theaters on May 3rd 2013.
