Marvel Finally Gives Fans a Full-Sized 'Ant-Man' Teaser

Marvel got a little too cute for their own good earlier this week when they released a tiny "ant-sized" preview  for Ant-Man, and it was so small nobody could make heads or tails out of it. From a marketing standpoint one can see why they thought it was a good idea but it seemed to bug (pun intended) people who are legitimately excited about the Avengers' upcoming movie. Fortunately, that has all been rectified now with the release of a normal-sized teaser for the trailer, which will debut on January 6th during the premiere of Agent Carter.

While Ant-Man could seem like an unlikely hero to get his own movie, the approach Marvel is taking shows why he was a solid choice. Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang, a thief who must work with his mentor, inventor Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) to pull off a major heist. Heist movies are one genre the Marvel Universe hasn't really tackled yet and it will be interesting to see how that fits into the overall plan. This footage also gives us a look at Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Pym's estranged daughter who could eventually become the superhero, the Wasp. She's certainly got her mother Janet van Dyne's hairstyle.

Directed by Peyton Reed and co-starring Corey Stoll, Michael Pena, Judy Greer, and Bobby Cannavale, Ant-Man opens July 17th.

Watch the Annoying "Ant-Sized" Teaser for the 'Ant-Man' Trailer

Because there are hundreds of movies and thus hundreds of different marketing campaigns, we've seen the entire practice of film promotion turn into a gimmick. Remember how annoyed everyone was with the 3-second previews of future teaser trailers? How pointless we all thought they were? Well Marvel has that beat. They've decided to be too cute by half in hyping this year's Ant-Man movie with a teaser so tiny you'll need a microscope to see anything. >sigh<

The 16-second spot offers some shots somebody out there with too much time on their hands is already downloading, blowing up, and going over with a fine-toothed comb. The real thing in a size we were all meant to see arrives on January 6th during the premiere of the Agent Carter series, so it may be in your best interests to wait until then rather than causing eye strain by watching this one. Maybe somebody thought this was clever but I find it highly annoying.

So does this mean when the eventual Giant-Man movie comes out the trailer will be in IMAX format? Ant-Man opens July 17th.

Check Out a Teaser for the Next 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Trailer

Marvel owned the top domestic box office champ of 2014 with Guardians of the Galaxy, but can they do it again in 2015 with Avengers: Age of Ultron? The smart money is that they can, given the $1.5B success they had with The Avengers in 2012. So while Disney certainly doesn't need to go overboard in marketing the movie by any means, they've still used a healthy amount of corporate synergy to tease the next trailer.

If you were one of the millions glued to college championship football yesterday then you might have seen a preview of the next Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, which will arrive on January 12th at 8:30pm on ESPN (which like ABC and Marvel is owned by Disney) during the National Championship game. So now you've got another reason to tune in to the action on the gridiron.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1st 2015.

'Jurassic World' Trailer Tease Offers First Footage of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard

Next summer, Jurassic World will be open for business, and the teasers are already starting to stomp their way onto the Internet. A couple of days ago a teaser emerged on Universal's Spanish website and was quickly taken down, a good thing because it was pretty terrible. But fortunately today comes the real thing, and it harkens back to the early days of Jurassic Park while giving us a peek at the future.

Utilizing a version of John Williams' unforgettable score, this footage give us a glimpse at new stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, while setting up the full trailer's release on Thursday, November 27th during NBC football. The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow, who may not be a household name after making his debut on Safety Not Guaranteed a couple of years ago, but that may be about to change.

So now you've got another reason to watch football on Turkey Day. Jurassic World opens June 12th 2015.

New Poster and Teaser for 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

Call your mom! The latest trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey arrives tomorrow, but before then we're treated to this brand new poster featuring Dakota Johnson, plus a brief TV promo. Is biting her lip something Anastasia Steele does frequently in the books or something? My guess is that it's meant to be a sign of her sexual innocence, right? Anyway, fans eager to see Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan getting hot and steamy will have to make due with this for now.

Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, Fifty Shades of Grey arrives on February 13th 2015.

'Avengers: Infinity War' Teaser Reveals Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet

So you know how it seems like every one of Marvel's films centers on some mystical object of limitless power? A Macguffin, basically? Well, eagle-eyed fanboys know those items are actually the components of the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet, which the villain Thanos is trying to put together. Let's just say, you don't want a death-obsessed god getting his hands on a weapon that can literally reshape reality.

The two-part Avengers: Infinity War will be the culmination of everything Marvel has been building since Iron Man in 2008. As part of the jaw-dropping press event yesterday they revealed this teaser for the film, confirming all of the powerful artifacts that will comprise the Gauntlet, ending with an ominous look at Thanos wielding it. Guh. This is too much! Can I just reiterate that I'm a little salty that Marvel didn't give us this presentation at Comic-Con? F'real. Noooooo, it has to be just some random Tuesday. Urgh!

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 arrives on May 4th 2018, followed by Part 2 on May 3rd 2019.

*UPDATE* First Teaser for the Unofficial 'Dredd' Spinoff Series, 'Superfiend'

*UPDATE* A brief teaser has been released ahead of Thursday's full trailer.

Ever since Dredd opened a couple of years ago fans of the brutal lawman have been begging for a sequel. While Karl Urban has expressed some hope it may happen at some point, it was producer Adi Shankar who revealed a couple of weeks ago that he was developing an "unofficial" sequel miniseries for the web.  He's dropped other such projects in the past for The Punisher and one for Venom, but chances are nobody was expecting what his Dredd follow-up has turned out to be.

EW has released the first photos and poster for what is being called Superfiend, and as you can see it's going to be an animated web series, not live-action. One look at the poster also tells you that Urban isn't involved at all, which has to be a disappointment to fans hoping he'd be a part of everything Dredd. The story is based on the "Dark Judges", a group of undead law enforcers from another dimension. It isn't technically a sequel, either, but a part of Shankar's little stable of bootleg flicks.

Basically this looks like something Cartoon Network would have cast aside, and certainly doesn't resemble dark spinoffs we're used to seeing from Shankar. But then again the Dark Judges are pretty cool and it's a great storyline, so maybe it will turn out better than these images suggest. Superfiend should arrive later this month.

Return to District 12 in the New 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' Teaser

By all accounts this has been a bounce back year for the YA genre after a disappointing 2013. Divergent and The Maze Runner got new franchises off on the right footing, and next month brings the first chapter in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, which has just revealed a new teaser.

Titled "Return to District 12", the footage shows Katniss...well, returning to her home in District 12 which is now smoking rubble due to the Capitol's attack. But Katniss is the "girl on fire", the face of the rebel army and she'll go back in to battle to defeat President Snow, rescue her brainwashed lover Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), and save Panem once and for all. She just won't do it in the first film, which is why the series' finale has been split into two parts.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1 opens November 21st.

First Trailer and Poster for Disney's 'Tomorrowland' starring George Clooney

It may not have quite the sizzle or number of exclusive as San Diego, but the New York Comic-Con is taking place right now and with it are first looks at some major projects. One of those is Brad Bird's ultra-secret Tomorrowland, and after debuting footage earlier today Disney has now brought it online to tease the futuristic sci-fi film.

We only get a brief glimpse of star George Clooney in this teaser, but his narration gives us a small hint at the wonder Bird and writer Damon Lindelof are trying to portray...

"What if there was a place, a secret place where nothing was impossible? A miraculous place where you could actually change the world. You wanna go?"

Mostly we get a look at Britt Robertson as Casey, a bright, intuitive girl who discovers a special pin that transports her across time and space to Tomorrowland. There she encounters Frank (Clooney), a former boy genius now jaded and disillusioned. Hugh Laurie, Judy Greer, Tim McGraw, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kathryn Hahn co-star.  Tomorrowland opens May 22nd 2015. Check out the trailer and Marvel's NYCC chat with Lindelof and Bird.

Beyonce Uses "Crazy in Love" to Tease 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Trailer

Once thought to be delayed until September, we recently found out the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer will be arriving this month, specifically next Thursday. But one of the privileges of being a celebrity like Beyonce is you get to see things before everybody else, and the superstar singer has used Instagram to reveal a brief teaser for the trailer, set to a slowed down, breathy version of "Crazy in Love".

Along with the altered version of Beyonce hit single, things to keep an eye out for are (presumably) the strict hands of Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, and (presumably) the anxious thighs of Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. The S&M drama is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and is based on the worldwide best-seller by E.L. James, following the erotic relationship between the billionaire Grey and the sexually-inexperienced Steele.

Also starring Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk, Eloise Mumford, Max Martini, Rita Ora, Marcia Gay Harden and Callum Keith Rennie, Fifty Shades of Grey opens February 13th 2015.

Jake Gyllenhaal is Thin and Jobless in First 'Nightcrawler' Teaser

The fall season is typically where the heavyweight films and performances start rolling out, and last year Jake Gyllenhaal delivered one of his best in Prisoners. It was completely unlike anything he had done; dark and heavy and free of glamor, and there are some who feel he should have received more awards attention for it. Perhaps the Oscar buzz he missed out on last year will be attained this year with the release of Nightcrawler, because Gyllenhaal seems to be putting in another transformative turn.

The first Nightcrawler teaser has been released and right away it's clear Gyllenhaal has dropped a ton of weight for the lead role of Lou Bloom. Undergoing that kind of change has been an attention-grabber in the past, most recently for Best Actor winner Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club. Here, Gyllenhaal plays an L.A. man who dives into the seedy, nocturnal world of freelance crime journalism. This teaser would seem to take place before he undertakes his new career path, perhaps out of desperation after a number of bad job interviews. It's basically a video Craigslist ad and the Bloom character comes off as a little oily.

Nightcrawler is the directorial debut of The Bourne Legacy screenwriter Dan Gilroy (the brother of Tony Gilroy), and co-stars Rene Russo, Riz Ahmed, and Bill Paxton. Chances are the film will play in Toronto before hitting theaters October 17th.

Benicio Del Toro is Pablo Escobar in Menacing Teaser for 'Paradise Lost'

In numerous movies there's the scene where a guy goes to meet his lover's parents and it turns out to be a disaster. Ben Stiller made a whole series of movies based on the premise. Typically it goes one way with the girl's father either being a total jerk or somebody who is extremely dangerous and heaven forbid his little girl get hurt. Well, imagine if her family was led by notorious and murderous drug lord Pablo Escobar? That's the idea behind Paradise Lost and now there's a rather menacing teaser for it.

Benicio Del Toro, who will don some freaky hair in Guardians of the Galaxy, dons a freaky beard as Escobar in Paradise Lost, co-starring opposite The Hunger Games' Josh Hutcherson. Hutcherson plays Nick, who falls in love with the beautiful Maria (Claudia Traisac) while on vacation in Colombia. While all seems great between them, things take a turn when he learns her uncle is Escobar. While it sounds like the set-up for a comedy this trailer suggests something dark and intense. We could be looking at quite the debut for director Andrea Di Stefano.

Also starring Brady Corbet and Carlos Bardem (Javier's brother), Paradise Lost is expected to open later this year.

Channing Tatum Gets Serious in New 'Foxcatcher' Poster and Teaser Trailer

We already know what Channing Tatum can do in action movies and in comedies, having only just returned as the dim-witted Officer Jenko in 22 Jump Street. Whatever you think of him, he's dramatically improved as an actor has proven to be a fairly reliable box office draw. There aren't too many who can say that, actually, and it will be interesting to see how Tatum fares in a film like the upcoming Foxcatcher, which will require him to get serious and show what he can do on the dramatic front.

The new poster and teaser trailer for the Bennett Miller (Moneyball) helmed film has been released, and it promises a Tatum who probably won't be cracking a lot of jokes. Originally meant to be in theaters last fall but was pushed back to this November to qualify for the upcoming Oscars, it stars Mark Ruffalo and Steve Carell in a dark biopic on the life of schizophrenic millionaire and wrestling enthusiast, John du Pont. Tatum plays wrestler Mark Schultz, whose autobiography the story is based on, as he and his Olympic medal-winning brother Dave (Ruffalo) befriend du Pont (Carell), attending his state-of-the-art wrestling facility Foxcatcher Farm. But du Pont's wealth hid his mental instability, and as a heated rivalry simmers between all three men du Pont would murder Mark, claiming he was part of a grand conspiracy.

Debuting at Cannes to rave reviews, the consensus seems to be that Tatum, Carell, and Ruffalo give career best performances. So it looks like the long wait for Foxcatcher will have been worth it. We'll find out when it opens on November 14th. [People]

New Clip and Teaser for 'Foxcatcher' Starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo

At one time Bennett Miller (Moneyball) looked to be heading back to the Oscars with Foxcatcher, a film with a terrific cast and a compelling true story involving sports, money, and murder. But then the release date got bumped and the film was temporarily while a new approach was considered. And that approach will have it still getting an Oscar-qualifying date plus a premiere at Cannes later today.

Before the film rolls a new teaser and a clip have been released which show why there's been so much awards buzz surrounding it. Starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo, the story centers on wealthy heir John du Pont, an amateur sports fanatic who opened up an Olympic-class wrestling facility at his Foxcatcher Farms property. It was there that he met and became friends with Olympic wrestlers Mark and Dave Schultz, until suddenly things went south and ended in murder.  Carell's sporting quite the impressive prosthetic schnoz for this one, and if we know anything about fake noses they are an easy ticket to an Oscar nomination.

Foxcatcher opens on November 14th.

Third 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Teaser of Tomorrow's Trailer

In case you somehow missed the first two teasers for tomorrow's full Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, Marvel has offered up one more. Rocket doesn't run his mouth in this one but we do get another look at the team of outlaws, including Star-Lord firing a really big, rather unwieldy weapon. Speaking for myself, these teasers are doing exactly what they were meant to because I'm stoked.

Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1st.

Rocket Speaks in New 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Teaser

The new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer debuts tomorrow and we've already seen one teaser for it. But that's simply not enough for the oddball team of intergalactic heroes, is it? Take it away, James Gunn...

And so we have that second teaser, this one featuring Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon. It appears his fondness for big guns will remain intact.

Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1st.

The Guns Are Out in New 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Poster and Trailer Teaser

On Monday a new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer will be released, but for now we'll have to settle with a pretty cool poster and a teaser 25-second teaser. The image finally shows the quirky team of heroes doing more than standing in a police line-up, with all of their weapons drawn and ready for battle. By the time the film comes out we'll have seen all of the summer's biggest guns and Guardians of the Galaxy should be a fun palette cleanser, and I love the way Marvel has really played up how different the team is from their other heroes.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Benicio Del Toro, Djimon Hounsou, Karen Gillan, and Michael Rooker, Guardians of the Galaxy opens on August 1st.

Teaser Trailer and Poster for Disney's Live-Action 'Cinderella'

Disney may be about to unleash Sleeping Beauty reimagining Maleficent on us in just a few days, but let's not forget they have a steady stream of fairy tale remakes on the way. And their next attempt to cash in on their animated vault will be a live-action Cinderella, which doesn't arrive for a year but already has a teaser trailer and poster.

Kenneth Branagh, who recently directed Disney's Thor and Paramount's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, is at the helm with Lily James as the titular heroine. Cate Blanchett will take a crack at villainy as the evil stepmother, with Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) as Prince Charming, Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother, and roles for Holliday Grainger, Stellan Skarsgard, Hayley Atwell, Derek Jacobi, Sophie McShera, and Ben Chaplin. The teasers aren't much but a reminder that the glass slippers will be making an appearance, as if there was any worry they wouldn't.

Cinderella opens in theaters March 13th 2015.

Don't Blink or You'll Miss the First Teaser for CW's 'The Flash'

Those who caught tonight's crazy season finale of Arrow also caught the first promo for The Flash, which CW hopes will give them a powerful superhero 1-2 punch. It's probably not accurate to call this a trailer so much as a character tease, showing us the vast differences between Stephen Amell's serious Oliver Queen and Grant Gustin's flashy Barry Allen. With so many comic book shows around and some beginning to worry they'll be telling similar stories, it was a wise move for CW to show their network will be doing things differently.

The series will air this fall and spin off from Barry Allen's appearances in Arrow this past season. He'll use his newfound powers to fight crime while also serving as a scientist in Central City.  Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanaugh, and John Wesley Shipp co-star.

First Footage from David Fincher's 'Gone Girl' Starring Ben Affleck

Before Ben Affleck dons the Bat-suit, he'll have a chance to star in David Fincher's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's bestselling novel, Gone Girl, easily one of the year's most anticipated films. The official trailer drops on Monday, but for we'll have to settle with the first footage talked over incessantly by Entertainment Tonight.

Affleck plays a man suspected in the disappearance of his wife (Rosamund Pike) on their fifth wedding anniversary. It's hard to get a feel for the tone thanks to all of ET's obnoxious chatter, but the look is pure Fincher. Fans of the novel will probably be keeping an eye out for any indication of story changes Flynn helped come up with.

Also starring Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry (!!!), Kim Dickens, and Patrick Fugit, Gone Girl opens October 3rd.
