Who Would Win? Flash vs. Arrow in New Trailer for 'The Flash'

Okay so I'm still a couple of weeks behind on The Flash, although I'm completely caught up on Arrow, and all I've been hearing about for the last week is this big crossover episode. Next week the CW will begin the first in their two-part crossover between The Flash and Arrow, which they've been hyping as a battle between the two superheroes. Well, kinda, except this new trailer makes it clear Flash (Grant Gustin) and Arrow (Stephen Amell) have different tactics but are ultimately on the same side. Frankly, I'm on the side of whoever lets me see more of Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak.

The Flash/Arrow crossover begins December 2nd on The Flash and concludes December 3rd on Arrow. Check out the episode synopsis followed by the trailer below.

Barry (Grant Gustin) is thrilled when Oliver (guest star Stephen Amell), Felicity (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) and Diggle (guest star David Ramsey) come to Central City to investigate a case involving a deadly boomerang. Excited about teaming up with his friend, Barry asks Oliver if he’d like to help him stop Ray Bivolo (guest star Paul Anthony), the meta-human Barry is currently tracking. Bivolo causes people to lose control of their emotions and has been using that skill to rob banks. Unfortunately, the superhero partnership doesn’t go as smoothly as Barry expected. When Oliver tells Barry he still has a lot to learn, Barry sets out to prove him wrong by attempting to stop Bivolo alone. However, when Bivolo infects Barry and sets him on a rage rampage, everyone is in danger, and the only one who can stop him is the Arrow. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) is furious when Eddie (Rick Cosnett) tries to get a task force to stop The Flash, Joe and Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) agree the Arrow is a bad influence on Barry, and Caitlin and Cisco deal with a new team in S.T.A.R. Labs.

The Joker and Parallel Worlds Teased in New Spots for 'Gotham' and 'The Flash'

Warner Bros. may be lagging behind Marvel when it comes to feature films but they rule on the small screen. This fall sees the emergence of two more DC Comics series that seem to be building up a serious head of steam. One is Gotham, which stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, and more in a sort of "Year One" version of Bruce Wayne's story. And then there's The Flash, a spinoff of Arrow and starring Grant Gustin as the Justice League speedster.

Two brief teasers have been released for both series, and they come with some surprises for eagle-eyed viewers. First up, the Gotham spot is very similar to the one we saw a few weeks ago with young James Gordon (McKenzie) entering a crime scene while colorful villains Fish Mooney, Oswald Cobblepot, Selina Kyle, and Edward Nygma eye him menacingly. But this one is slightly different and has a more overt reference to the Joker, Batman's arch-nemesis and undoubtedly a future villain Gordon will tangle with. Did producers think audiences missed out on the Joker reference before and decided to go with something obvious? Gotham premieres on Fox on September 22nd.

"My name is Barry Allen, and I am the fastest man alive". Am I the only one who thinks every episode of The Flash should start with those words? It would be a nice nod to Mark Waid's beloved run on the comic, but also a good way frame the speedster as unique. Heroes with super speed are nothing new and so it's imperative to remind audiences there's nobody quite like Flash, and this teaser hints at a greater power within him...

"Inside your body could be a map to a whole new world".

Is that a reference to the Speed Force, which is kinda like the Force from Star Wars but used only by speedsters? Or could it be referring to DC's Multiverse, alternate worlds first discovered by the Flash more than fifty years ago?  DC uses the Multiverse frequently to tell many different kinds of stories without the burdens of continuity, although I don't know why they bother since they reboot everything every few years anyway. The Flash debuts on the CW Tuesday night, October 7th.

Red Band Trailer for 'Affluenza' Starring Nicola Peltz, Ben Rosenfield, and Steve Guttenberg(!!!)

Chances are you had never heard of the term "affluenza" before last year when a rich, spoiled Texas teen was given a light probation sentence after his drunk driving resulted in the deaths of four people. He mounted what turned out to be a successful defense claiming he suffered from affluenza, basically that he had lived such a life of privilege that he never learned the difference between right and wrong. It was a landmark case and got a lot of people justifiably pissed, seeing it as just another way that the rich get all the breaks. But Affluenza is definitely a crock of shit a thing now, and it's also a movie starring a pair of hot young stars and a couple of venerable old veteran actors.

Affluenza stars Nicola Peltz, the Bates Motel star who will feature heavily in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Boardwalk Empire's Ben Rosenfield, Grant Gustin (CW's The Flash), Samantha Mathis (American Psycho), and Gregg Sulkin, but what we are obviously most excited about is the presence of Steve Guttenberg, the guy who inspired our vaunted movie rating system. Maybe we can get him in for an interview finally? He's like our white whale or something. Anyway, the film is directed by Kevin Asch, who last helmed the Jesse Eisenberg-led drug flick, Holy Rollers. Affluenza hits theaters on July 11th with a VOD release the same day. Check out the official synopsis below along with the trailer.

Suburbia, 2008. Swept up in a heady pre-recession world of absentee parents, plentiful booze and casual sex, aspiring photographer Fisher Miller (Ben Rosenfield) escapes his middle-class life for the moneyed mansions of the young, beautiful elite. With a stash of high-quality weed and a vintage camera, he gains access to his gorgeous cousin Kate's (Nicola Peltz) circle of wealthy and indulged friends, just as their entitled reality is about to spin out of control. A revealing take on the hidden perils of privilege.

'The Flash' Runs Like Lightning in New Clip and 5-Minute Trailer

CW is racing faster than Barry Allen can run to start the hype machine for The Flash, releasing a teaser trailer last night during the Arrow season finale. And now today comes not only a blazing 5-minute trailer, but the first clip from the pilot episode.

Grant Gustin dons the red and yellow suit as Allen, who appeared in a couple of Arrow episodes last season. That opens up the door for..wait for it.....CROSSOVERS (!!!) with Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen showing up to drop some familiar pearls of wisdom. Well, familiar if you watch Arrow, anyway. We also see Jesse L. Martin as Detective West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow aka Killer Frost, Candice Patton as Irish West, and Tom Cavanaugh as scientist/mentor Harrison Wells.

This looks pretty good and like the perfect companion to Arrow. The Flash will air Tuesday nights this fall.

Don't Blink or You'll Miss the First Teaser for CW's 'The Flash'

Those who caught tonight's crazy season finale of Arrow also caught the first promo for The Flash, which CW hopes will give them a powerful superhero 1-2 punch. It's probably not accurate to call this a trailer so much as a character tease, showing us the vast differences between Stephen Amell's serious Oliver Queen and Grant Gustin's flashy Barry Allen. With so many comic book shows around and some beginning to worry they'll be telling similar stories, it was a wise move for CW to show their network will be doing things differently.

The series will air this fall and spin off from Barry Allen's appearances in Arrow this past season. He'll use his newfound powers to fight crime while also serving as a scientist in Central City.  Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanaugh, and John Wesley Shipp co-star.

First Look at the Full Costume for CW's 'The Flash'

Not long ago we got a look at a head shot of Grant Gustin in his costume for CW's The Flash TV pilot, and while it was cool it only made us want to see how the rest of the suit would be decked out. Now DC Comics and Warner Bros. have released this image of Gustin in the full lightning-streaked costume, designed by three time Oscar-winning designer Colleen Atwood.

Atwood also designed the outfit used in the Arrow series, so it only makes sense she'd have a hand in the spinoff, too. Gustin debuted as Barry Allen in a recent episode of Arrow, setting up his origin and establishing that both heroes exist in the same universe.

"I hope the fans who treasure the character are as excited as we are by what costume designer Colleen Atwood has achieved with this latest version of The Flash's iconic suit," said David Nutter, the director and executive producer.

The Flash is in production now from writers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns.

1st Look at Grant Gustin as CW's 'The Flash'

DC Comics is hoping to tighten their hold over the small screen with The Flash, a spinoff of CW's popular series, Arrow. It took a few episodes, but Arrow found its footing towards the end of the first season and has been hitting bullseyes in season two, which is why they're confident enough to branch off in this way. And with production on The Flash pilot beginning next week, the first look at star Grant Gustin in costume has been released, so don't blink or you may miss it.

Designed by Oscar-winner Colleen Atwood, who designed Stephen Amell's Arrow costume. Already it looks far better, and more wind-resistant, than the one worn by John Wesley Shipp in the 1990 series. It's considerably darker than the bright red we're used to in the comics. Shipp will have an unspecified role in this pilot, as well, and if it does well he'll come back in a recurring role. The rest of the cast is filled out by Jesse L. Martin, Michelle Harrison, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Tom Cavanaugh.

David Nutter will direct the pilot, with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johnson writing the script.
