1st Look at Grant Gustin as CW's 'The Flash'

DC Comics is hoping to tighten their hold over the small screen with The Flash, a spinoff of CW's popular series, Arrow. It took a few episodes, but Arrow found its footing towards the end of the first season and has been hitting bullseyes in season two, which is why they're confident enough to branch off in this way. And with production on The Flash pilot beginning next week, the first look at star Grant Gustin in costume has been released, so don't blink or you may miss it.

Designed by Oscar-winner Colleen Atwood, who designed Stephen Amell's Arrow costume. Already it looks far better, and more wind-resistant, than the one worn by John Wesley Shipp in the 1990 series. It's considerably darker than the bright red we're used to in the comics. Shipp will have an unspecified role in this pilot, as well, and if it does well he'll come back in a recurring role. The rest of the cast is filled out by Jesse L. Martin, Michelle Harrison, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Tom Cavanaugh.

David Nutter will direct the pilot, with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johnson writing the script.

Sneak peek at the new 'Ender's Game' trailer; plus first look at Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham

Since Ben Kingsley is currently making Tony Stark's life miserable as the global terrorist Mandarin in Iron Man 3, it makes sense that the producers behind Ender's Game want to highlight him as much as possible. Yesterday, the film's Facebook page revealed that the first full-length trailer would debut during a Google + Hangout with director Gavin Hood and star Asa Butterfield, and to get fans ready for it they've released some sneak peek footage which ends on Kingsley as the tattooed Mazer Rackham.

The first look at Kingsley in the film emerged a couple of days ago, and now this trailer tease also gives us a look at Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff, the leader of the Battle School designed to train special children to be the greatest military commanders in the universe. Humanity is on the verge of extinction due to a costly war with the bug-like alien Formics, and they need these kids to be the next Mazer Rackham, a legendary field general who single-handedly stopped the previous invasion. Ender Wiggin is regarded as the best and brightest recruit, and is put through the physical and emotional wringer to make sure he lives up to his potential.

Also starring Hailee Steinfeld, Moises Arias (The Kings of Summer), Viola Davis, and Abigail Breslin, Ender's Game hits theaters on November 1st.

1st official look at 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

Marvel has been steadily teasing Phase Two of late, thanks to the release of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase One box set, and with Iron Man 3 set to open in just a few short weeks, it's not likely to ease up any time soon. The push continues with the release of the first official image from Captain America: The Winter Soldier as production kicks into high gear.

The accompanying press release gives the clearest look at the plot yet, revealing that Scarlett Johansson's appearance as Black Widow will be closer to a lead than a cameo....

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

Robert Redford's role as a SHIELD senior officer turns out to be that of Alexander Pierce, who in the comics was Nick Fury's personal aide. Emily VanCamp's role has been confirmed to be that of Agent 13, aka Sharon Carter, the niece of Cap's WWII flame, Peggy Carter. Directed by the Russo Brothers for release on April 4th 2014, Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Hayley Atwell, Georges St- Pierre, Maximiliano Hernández

Robert Pattinson threatened by Guy Pearce in first look at 'The Rover'

First announced last May with the signing of Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce, word has been extremely quiet on The Rover ever since. Directed by David Michod, who shot to fame with the Aussie crime thriller Animal Kingdom, the film is now in front of cameras and we're getting our first look at it.

EW has dropped the new image from the futuristic western, and it looks like Pattinson's in a little bit of trouble. Set in the Australian outback against the backdrop of an economic collapse, the film has Pearce as a man who finds his car and his invaluable possessions stolen by a gang. Pattinson plays a naive, injured member of the gang who the man forces to help him. It sounds a little bit like Mad Max, and Michod has even noted the similarity himself while making quite the boast about his film...

Michod: “You put cars in the desert in Australia and people are going to think of 'Mad Max. And with all due respect to that film — and I stress that — I think 'The Rover' is going to be way more chillingly authentic and menacing.”

Vin Diesel battles Dave Bautista in new image from 'Riddick'

We've seen a number of photos from Riddick courtesy of Vin Diesel's Facebook page, but this is the one that interests me most. The latest image pits Diesel against the massive ex-WWE superstar, Dave Bautista, and it looks like Vin has the upper hand. Diesel can't seem to get away from beating up pro wrestlers, duking it out with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in Fast Five. Maybe Stone Cold Steve Austin can turn up in Fast & Furious 7 or something?

The film finds the infamous Riddick stranded on a seemingly desolate planet, only to discover its inhabited by vicious alien predators. His only hope of escape is activating an emergency beacon which alerts mercenaries to his whereabouts, hoping to cash in on the bounty. Bautista plays one of a new breed of merc, more dangerous than any Riddick has ever faced.

Also starring Katee Sackhoff, Karl Urban, Jordi Bolla, and Bokeem Woodbine, Riddick hits theaters on September 6th.

1st look at the new Spider-Man sequel costume

Marc Webb has been tweeting images like a madman from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, but most are totally uninteresting. Random FBI agents with badges? Come on. But he did tease a few days ago that we'd be getting a look at the new Spidey costume for the sequel, and now we have our first official look at it.

Right off the bat, the eyes are definitely bigger, as we were told they would be. Otherwise I'm not seeing a really big difference. Still, there are some who are already complaining as if the suit holds some sort of impact on the story. If it were the black costume or the Scarlet Spider outfit that would be true.

It will still be Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) under the mask, battle back the threat of Elektro (Jamie Foxx) and the Rhino (Paul Giamatti) while failing to stay away from Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) as promised to her father. More mysteries from his past emerge with the arrival of his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), and a new girl enters Peter's life in the form of Mary Jane Watson (Shailene Woodley).

Also starring Felicity Jones, Colm Feore and Sally Field, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives on May 2nd 2014. [Comingsoon]

1st look at Josh Brolin as Dwight in 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For'

It was more than a little disappointing to learn that Clive Owen wouldn't be returning for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. That disappointment was only tempered by the addition of Josh Brolin, playing an earlier version of the Dwight character before his face underwent radical reconstruction. With production on the long-awaited sequel underway, Robert Rodriguez has begun tweeting images from the set, including one that shows exactly how Brolin will appear in the film's stylized greyscale.

Rodriguez makes clear this is just a touch up from the green screen, and it may appear differently in the final cut. Brolin's certainly got Dwight's intense stare down pat.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens on October 4th, starring Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert,Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Stacy Keach, Eva Green and Julia Garner.

1st photo from Eli Roth's 'The Green Inferno'

It's been a lot of years since Eli Roth graced us with one of his bloody, messy horror films. Not since 2007's Hostel 2, to be exact, even though he's been keeping busy as a writer and producer. But let's be honest, we want to see what kind of nasty things have been cooking up in Roth's head for the last six years, and based on the first image from his next film, it looks like it involves a human feeding frenzy.

STYD have a photo from The Green Inferno, which Roth is directing based on a script co-written with Guillermo Amoedo (Aftershock). The Italian horror it's based on was also known as Cannibal Holocaust, so you probably have a good idea what's going. The story follows a student and some do-gooders who crashland in the Peruvian jungle and come across a cannibalistic tribe. Judging by the image, it's either dinner time or spring break gone wrong.

I'm expecting lots of gore and guts, and hopefully Roth won't disappoint. Starring  Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Aaron Burns, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Magda Apanowicz and Sky Ferreria, we can probably expect to see The Green Inferno later this year.

Charlotte Gainsbourg gets her swirl on in new 'Nymphomaniac' pic

Those who were disappointed by the lack of sexual activity in the first image from Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac will be quite pleased by this new one. In it, we see star Charlotte Gainsbourg as the cream in a Mandingo sandwich. Yep, this one's going to get pretty wild, I'd guess.

Also starring Shia LaBeouf, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Connie Nielsen, Stellan Skarsgard, and Uma Thurman, the story has a beaten and battered woman recounting her sexual history to the man who saved her. Knowing Von Trier this image is probably from one of the tamer scenes.

Now let's see if the film is allowed into Cannes.

1st look at John Le Carré adaptation 'A Most Wanted Man'; Ralph Fiennes and Mads Mikkelsen join 'Our Kind of Traitor'

So you loved Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and are eagerly awaiting the next pot-boiling John Le Carré adaptation? Well lucky you, because there will be plenty to choose from before too long.

First up, we're getting our first look at Philip Seymour Hoffman and Rachel McAdams in A Most Wanted Man, which follows a half-Chechen, half-Russian, tortured half-to-death immigrant turns up in Hamburg’s Islamic community, laying claim to his father’s ill gotten fortune, both German and US security agencies take a close interest. The central mystery surrounds the man's true identity. Is he an oppressed victim or an extremist bent on destruction? The film also stars Willem Dafoe, Robin Wright, and Daniel Bruhl, with Anton Corbijn (The American) directing. Awesome cast and a perfectly set director, so it's a wonder why no U.S. distribution has been secured yet.

Then there's Our Kind of Traitor, which recently cast Ewan McGregor in one of the lead roles and will be directed by Justin Kurzel (The Snowtown Murders). Last fall it was rumored that Mads Mikkelsen, Ralph Fiennes, and Jessica Chastain would join the international thriller, which follows an English couple(McGregor is one) who get mixed up with a Russian money-launderer and are forced to go on the run.  While it appears Chastain is out, Fiennes and Mikkelsen are now confirmed, making this yet another Le Carré adaptation with a stellar roster. Fiennes will play a U.K. "fixer", while Mikkelsen plays the Russian oligarch central to the story.

And as for Smiley's People, the true sequel to 'Tinker Tailor'? Tomas Alfredson and Peter Straughan are indeed coming back to direct and script, and the film may shoot some time in 2014 with the principle cast returning. More reason to celebrate.[THR/Screen Daily]

1st look at Nicolas Cage in David Gordon Green's 'Joe'

After venturing into the world of lowbrow sex comedies, David Gordon Green is most certainly veering back into old habits. That's definitely a good thing, as it's been far too long since the auteur took to making smaller, character pieces like All the Real Girls and George Washington. Last month he was in Park City debuting Prince Avalanche, a quirky dramatic effort starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch. And after that, Green brings us the gritty Southern drama, Joe, starring Nicolas Cage and Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life).

The first image from the film has been released, showing a more grizzled and woodsy Cage than I can ever remember seeing. Cage plays Joe Ransom, an ex-con in a small Texas town who attempts to atone for his sins by becoming the father figure to a 15-year old boy trying to support his family. According to comments Greene has made in the past, it goes down some pretty dark avenues, and certainly this image hints at that being the case.

Could this be the film that sets Cage on a similar redemptive path as Matthew McConaughey? Let's hope so.

1st official look at Lars Von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac'

Anytime Lars von Trier opens his mouth, usually something controversial is about to spill out. But that's just par for the course, considering every film he makes also ends up a hot button topic. Just a couple of years after his stunning end-of-the-world film Melancholia, not to mention his inflammatory Cannes comments which got him barred from the festival, he's now back with his two-part erotic epic, Nymphomaniac.

The first image has been released, and it appears to show star Charlotte Gainsberg's character beaten and abandoned in an alley, leading to her discovery and a recounting of her complicated sexual history through the age of 50. Those hoping the first photo would feature the much-hyped explicit sex scenes will probably be disappointed by how little is happening here, but it's just the start of what's probably going to be a very aggressive marketing push. Von Trier will want to get as much buzz surrounding the film as possible in hopes of getting back into Cannes' good graces.

Starring Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard, Christian Slater, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Connie Nielsen, Willem Dafoe, and Udo Kier, Nymphomaniac doesn't have a U.S. date yet but may open internationally in May. [Artificial Eye]

New image of Rebecca Hall in 'Iron Man 3'

The Iron Man 3 TV spot will be debuting during the Super Bowl, and it seems like Marvel is determined to do something new every day leading up to it. Today they've released a new snap of Rebecca Hall, who plays scientist Maya Hansen, and she looks quite gorgeous I must say.

Hansen is one of the scientists, along with Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce), working on the Extremis nanovirus that will play a major role in the story. In the image you can see she has a nasty scratch on her head, which we can assume she got during Mandarin's attack on Tony Stark's home. It's in the trailer, after all. Can't really tell what all that is she's got around her desk, but I'm sure somebody with way too much time on their hands has a magnifying glass on it right now.

Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 opens on May 3rd.
