Rumor: Naomi Watts, Chris Evans, and Li Bingbing Sought for 'The Expendabelles'; Stallone and Willis Confirmed

Maybe it was the leak that saw The Expendables 3 viewed by millions weeks before it hit theaters, but Sylvester Stallone's action bonanza (clearly the best of the franchise) tanked hard at the box office..domestically, anyway. Internationally it was a powerhouse, with more than $160M of its $204M total coming from overseas markets. And while there is still some buzz of a fourth film, what's likely to come first is the female-led spinoff, The Expendabelles, and some new names are being rumored for the cast.

Now take all of this with a shot of side eye because the story emerged at The Tracking Board, which says offers have been sent to Naomi Watts, Alan Rickman (?), Chris Evans (??), Marcia Gay Harden, and Li Bingbing. They also "confirm" that Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis will be reprising their Expendables roles, which sounds suspicious given the blow up between the two during The Expendables 3 filming. Remember how Willis walked out on production because of a salary dispute, only to have Stallone rewrite the script and trash his character for the entire movie? Yeah. And with Stallone producing Expendebelles it doesn't seem likely he'd be begging Willis to return.

Anyway, we'll see if any of this shakes out. These are just offers and any of them could (and probably will) refuse, just as Meryl Streep and Sigourney Weaver did. Robert Luketic (Killers) is directing from a script by the Legally Blonde duo of Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith.

Li Bingbing Returning for 'Resident Evil 6'; Diane Kruger and Thomas Kretschmann Scale 'The Wall'

* Earlier this year, Paul W.S. Anderson suggested the sixth and final Resident Evil film wouldn't hit its September 2014 target date, and since there have been zero updates since we can assume that to be the case. But he has given a brief update on it while attending the Beijing International Film Festival, confirming that it will "definitely be in 3D" and that Li Bingbing would be returning as Ada Wong. Of course, Milla Jojovich will be back for more zombie-slaying action as Alice. [CNTV]

* Diane Kruger (Troy) and Thomas Kretschmann (recently seen as Baron von Strucker in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) have joined romantic drama, The Wall, about a couple whose love and loyalty are literally separated by the Berlin Wall. Michael Johnson and Theresa Alto penned the script, but a director still needs to be found before filming begins later this year.

'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Li Bingbing Character Poster

China hosted Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction pretty extensively, and we know it will feature prominently in the plot. Cue up footage of the Great Wall being blown to oblivion by a Megatron laser blast. And with Paramount hoping to draw in the massive Chinese audience, they've released a new character poster featuring Chinese actress Li Bingbing.

Bingbing, who fans of the Resident Evil film franchise will recognize as Ada Wong, plays Su Yueming, CEO of a Transformers manufacturing group in China. Her character is known as "Mother of Transformers", so it sounds as if humans are going to start building their own Transformers, a fact which can't please Autobots or Decepticons.

We've already seen character posters for Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, and Nicole Peltz, with more one-sheets on the way.  Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th.
