Cameron Diaz, 'Transformers' and Kirk Cameron Lead 2015 Razzie Nominations

With the Academy Award nominations coming up as a celebration of the year's best films, it means the time is here to also "honor" the crappiest films to plague theaters. Yes, it's time for the annual Razzie Award nominations, when a group of mean-spirited folk swing at the low hanging fruit that are the most obviously terrible movies.

This year it's Cameron Diaz who comes out the big loser with three nominations (including Worst Actrss) for four different movies: The Other Woman, Sex Tape, and Annie, the last one they probably threw in just for the easy trifecta. Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction is obviously in the mix multiple times for Worst Movie, Worst Director, Worst Screen Combo, and Worst Screenplay. While sometimes these awards are around just to take cheap shots at celebs, it's hard to dispute the presence of Pompeii, Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas debacle, and The Legend of Hercules.

This year they're doing something different and offering the Redeemer Award to someone who has made a big screen comeback after stinking up the joint far too often. That list is actually pretty cool with Kristen Stewart, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Aniston having made significant strides, at least according to the Razzie team.

The Razzie winners will be named on February 21st.

First Look at Mark Wahlberg in 'The Gambler'; Plus Honest Trailer for 'Transformers: Age of Extinction'

It doesn't seem to matter which Mark Wahlberg we get, audiences still love him and will pay to see it. And to his credit, Wahlberg has been amazingly versatile over the years, even though he'll probably never be recognized for it. The fact remains he's not only one of the top action stars working today, but as films like Pain & Gain, The Fighter, and The Other Guys prove, he's got  some serious dramatic and comedic skills. So you never know which Wahlberg you're going to get, and today we're getting the first look at his latest dramatic film, a remake of The Gambler. And at the same time Wahlberg's going to get torn apart by an Honest Trailer for Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction.

First up, USA Today has released the first images from The Gambler, directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) as a redo of the 1974 film led by James Caan. Wahlberg plays a literature professor (don't laugh!!) who lets his gambling problem get away from him, sending his professional and personal life into a tailspin. If he looks gaunt compared to what we're accustomed to it's because the role required him to drop 40lbs. Also starring in the film are Brie Larson, Jessica Lange, and John Goodman with a release date set for December 19th for a potential Oscar run.

And the Screen Junkies are back to pick the low hanging fruit with another Honest Trailer, this time picking the lowest fruit of them all, Transformers: Age of Extinction. This is probably the least-inspired takedown they've done yet because we know all the jokes already. The plot is stupid, Bay likes to blow stuff up, etc. etc. etc. And yep, Wahlberg takes his share of heat, too, with his character called a "Boston native Texan" who is "fighting against all odds to sound intelligent." Yikes. So grab your American flag, bone up on your Chinese, and check out the trailer below.

Box Office: 'Apes' Retains Top Spot, 'The Purge: Anarchy' Kills while 'Sex Tape' Flops

1. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes- $36M/$138.9M
Unsurprisingly, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes held on to the top spot, but what is a little surprising is the small 49% decline. Thank a number of superlative reviews with many claiming it to be the best tentpole film of the summer. Internationally it has added another $32M for a total of $171M, right at the estimated $170M production budget.
2. The Purge: Anarchy- $28.3M
Although The Purge: Anarchy's $28M debut falls short of The Purge's $34M just last year, it perhaps has a better shot at performing better in the long run. The film is getting relatively good reviews for expanding the core premise of a national holiday where all violent crime is legal. That concept has always been the biggest hook, and with audiences happy at seeing more of it, the film has a 'B' Cinemascore, it should mean solid word of mouth buzz.
3. Planes: Fire and Rescue- $18M
The only film with an 'A' Cinemascore this week is Disney's largely unwanted sequel, Planes: Fire and Rescue. The last film began life as a straight-to-DVD project before the Mouse House decided to bring it to theaters, and it succeeded with $219M. 'Fire and Rescue' may not reach those levels but it doesn't really need to in order to be profitable. These movies cost about $50M, are sure to make bank overseas, and are basically just feature-length TV commercials for Cars/Planes merchandise.
4. Sex Tape- $15M
The biggest fail of the week was Sex Tape, the toothless R-rated comedy with Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel. It's actually a pretty funny film, just not as edgy as the marketing suggested, and that has driven many of the bad reviews that have played a part in it doing so poorly. The film inexplicably cost $40M and should manage to recoup that, but it says something that Sex Tape is lagging behind Diaz's most recent sex-themed comedy, The Other Woman, which opened at $25M and ended up with a whopping $190M worldwide. Bad Teacher, which featured the same cast and director, similarly started off slow before ending up with $216M, and maybe Sex Tape will rebound in the same way. Doubtful, but anything's possible.
5. Transformers: Age of Extinction- $10M/$227.1M
$886M and counting for Michael Bay's fourth Transformers flick. It should surpass Maleficent and X-men: Days of Future Past's domestic haul probably by the end of today, and may steal the top slot from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
6. Tammy- $7.6M/$71.2M
7. 22 Jump Street- $4.7M/$180.5M
8. How to Train Your Dragon 2- $3.8M/$160.6M
9. Maleficent- $3.3M/$228.3M
10. Earth to Echo- $3.2M/$31.9M

Zach Braff's Kickstarter-funded Wish I Was Here opened to decent business with $495K at only 68 sites. Richard Linklater's apparent Oscar-contender Boyhood was the big art house winner of the week, expanding to 33 locations with a hefty $36K per-site-average for $1.2M. Overall the film has earned $1.8M and will continue to roll into more cities over the next few weeks.

Box Office: 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' Conquers with $73M

1. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes- $73M
Bad pun alert! Audiences went bananas for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which debuted at $73M plus another $30M international for a solid $103M weekend. That's close to $20M above what Rise of the Planet of the Apes did three years ago, and that went on to a robust $481M overall. So this is good news for 20th Century Fox as they seek to recoup the $170M production budget, and it's also good for director Matt Reeves in his most high-profile directing gig yet after monster flick Cloverfield and the horror remake, Let Me In. It also means we're likely to see Andy Serkis suited up for a third film, and maybe he'll finally get the Academy Awards recognition he's so long deserved?
2. Transformers: Age of Extinction- $16.5M/$209M
$752M worldwide and counting.
3. Tammy- $12.9M/$57.3M
Audiences don't seem to care about the awful reviews from critics as Tammy only slipped 40% from last week.
4. 22 Jump Street- $6.7M/$171.9M
5. How to Train Your Dragon 2- $5.8M/$152M
6. Earth to Echo- $5.5M/$24.5M
Taking advantage of the rarity of live-action kiddie films, Earth to Echo excelled in its second week with only a 34% drop. Right now the film is up to $24.5M, nearly double its budget. Chances are it will take a hit when Planes: Fire and Rescue opens next week.
7. Deliver Us from Evil- $4.7M/$25M
8. Maleficent- $4.1M/$221.9M
9. Begin Again- $2.9M/$5.2M
Expanding to 939 theaters is John Carney's Begin Again, his follow-up to the beloved 2006 musical-romance, Once. That small Irish film came out of nowhere to become a critical, Oscar-winning favorite, but Begin Again is much more of a studio effort with Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo in the leads. The results have been decidedly mixed (although I loved it) with the major complaint that it's basically a redo of Once, and maybe that talk has tempered the audience somewhat.
10. Jersey Boys- $2.5M/$41.7M

Box Office: 'Transformers 4' Leads Weak July 4th Weekend; 'Tammy' Underwhelms

1. Transformers: Age of Extinction- $36.4M/$174.7M
This is the rare July 4th weekend that doesn't include a single summer blockbuster, at least in terms of budget and scope. And so it was fairly easy for Transformers: Age of Extinction to hold on to the top spot, the first film of 2014 to repeat, even though it dropped 63% from last week. After two weeks Michael Bay's fourth crack at the Transformers has sparked $575M worldwide, a good chunk of that coming from China, and there's every reason to think it will surpass $1B as 'Dark of the Moon' did.
2. Tammy- $21.1M/$32.9M
The top new release this week was Tammy, which features Melissa McCarthy doing the same thing she's been doing for a few years now, namely crashing into things and putting herself down. While the film will come in just short of the debuts for Identity Thief and The Heat, those movies came with some pretty big co-stars while this is entirely a McCarthy effort, meaning people bought tickets just to see her. And at a cost of only $20M the film is already in the black even if it underwhelms overall.
3. Deliver Us from Evil- $9.5M/$15M
This has not been the strongest year for horror movies, coming off the red-hot streak of genre movies in 2013, but Scott Derrickson's Deliver Us from Evil is off to a pretty good start. The Eric Bana/Edgar Ramirez exorcism thriller opened up with $15M since its debut on Wednesday, and at a cost of only $30M it should prove successful enough for producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Hopefully this convinces Marvel to cast Ramirez in Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange movie. Yes please?
4. 22 Jump Street- $9.4M/$158.8M
5. How to Train your Dragon 2- $8.7M/$140M
6. Earth to Echo- $8.2M/$13.5M
The E.T. meets The Goonies sci-fi flick Earth to Echo didn't get a ton of marketing hype and its biggest star is The X-factor breakout Astro, but it opened with a solid $13.5M over five days. While that may not sound like much it's probably all or mostly profit for the low budget feature, which Relativity bought (nearly completed, too) from Disney on the cheap some time back.
7. Maleficent- $6.1M/$213.8M
8. Jersey Boys- $5.1M/$36.7M
9. Think Like a Man Too- $4.9M/$57.1M
10. Edge of Tomorrow- $3.6M/$90.8M

Box Office: 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Scores 2014's Biggest Opening Weekend

1. Transformers: Age of Extinction- $100M
It appears there's a lot more energon in the tank of Paramount's Transformers franchise as Transformers: Age of Extinction scored the biggest opening weekend of 2014 with $100M. The fourth film in the series and the second to be called Michael Bay's finale (we'll see about that), this is also the first to open on a Friday, oddly enough, and the results were $41M on that first night alone. The film was also a Chinese co-production with the action taking place partly in Hong Kong, and that no doubt factored into the strong $30M it earned there as part of a $201M international haul. At $301M on the first weekend there's every reason to think it will cross the $1B mark just as the last film did. One has to consider the addition of Mark Wahlberg, who is signed up for multiple movies, had a hand to play in keeping audiences interested at a time when most franchises start to die out. Whether Bay returns for the already-confirmed Transformers 5 in 2016 is unknown but if not he's going out with a band, just as we'd expect him to.
2. 22 Jump Street- $15.4M/$139.8M
3. How to Train Your Dragon 2- $13.1M/$121.8M
4. Think Like a Man Too - $10.4/$48.1M
On less solid footing than the prior movie, Think Like A Man Too slipped 64% and seems a long shot to match Think Like A Man's $96M run.
5. Maleficent- $8.2M/$201.8M
6. Jersey Boys- $7.6M/$27.3M
7. Edge of Tomorrow- $5.2M/$84.1M
8. The Fault In Our Stars- $4.8M/$109.5M
9. X-men: Days of Future Past- $3.3M/$223.3M
Skirts past the $700M mark worldwide.
10. Chef- $1.6M/$19.4M
Jon Favreau's little culinary film keeps on cookin', slipping only 3% from last week.

Review: Michael Bay's 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Starring Mark Wahlberg

Any hope of seeing the Transformers millions of fans grew up watching on Saturday morning long ago dashed, Michael Bay's films are now little more than a licensing expo masquerading as a Hollywood blockbuster. The fourth film in the franchise, the aptly named Transformers: Age of Extinction is a thundering assault on the aural and visual senses and a marketing agent's wet dream of product placement overload. In other words: same energon, different chassis, right? In terms of sheer brazen spectacle Bay delivers maximum action; big and loud as ever but also lacking the passion he usually brings to every single project.

It wasn't that long ago Bay had planned for Dark of the Moon to be his final time chronicling the ongoing war between the heroic Autobots and evil Decepticons, but a last-second deal with the studio got him back for at least one more. And part of that deal was he would get to direct his passion project, the crime comedy Pain & Gain, before jumping into 'Age of Extinction'. That bit of arm twisting may have done something to Bay enthusiasm, or at least it feels that way. The result is a film that sees Bay burning through his usual bag of tricks at an accelerated pace and employing a visual style best described as uninspired. Surely, a Transformers movie that doesn't look all that good would be an utter disaster, right? Well, not exactly, because Bay and franchise scribe Ehren Kruger have come up with a story that is surprisingly effective, easy to follow, and tailor made for new star Mark Wahlberg. That's right, no more of Shia LaBeouf's stuttering and getting pushed around by Megan Fox, this film has a genuine tough guy in Wahlberg and it's a drastic improvement.

Not quite a reboot but forging a new path forward, the story takes place a few years after Chicago was devastated in the prior movie. The city has been rebuilt remarkably well, almost as if nothing happened at all. In fact it looks exactly same. In the time since, the world has cooled on the idea of giant killer robots hanging around, and that includes Optimus Prime and his Autobot. Kelsey Grammer plays Harold Attinger, one of those non-descript government guys who always have some black ops unit doing their own thing behind the President's back. He's been out there slaughtering Autobots, including some old favorites, with the help of Lockdown, a mercenary Transformer who desperately wants to find Optimus. In exchange, Attinger will receive a giant Macguffin"the seed", a powerful object responsible for the destruction of the dinosaurs and not the "Big Bang". Trust that this reworking of history is only there to introduce the fan-favorite Dinobots and not as any part of the story that matters in any way. What's Attinger's deal? Plain old human greed as he's hoping to gain a big payoff by working alongside Joshua Joyce (Stanley Tucci), the temperamental head of KSI Industries who have begun building superior models of Transformer for military use.

Wahlberg, playing the same sort of homegrown lunk/intellectual he played inThe Happening, is lowly robotics expert Cade Yeager. His Paris, Texas business has been hit hard by what looks like the worst economic depression ever, and he's basically struggling to make ends meet while keeping track of his hot and rebellious daughter, Tessa (Nicola Peltz). She's got a thing for bad boys, though, and has secretly been dating a race car driver (Jack Reynor) whose skills come in handy when everything goes to Hell in a hand basket. And it takes a good stretch of time before that happens as we're treated to the Yeagers' financial woes and familial squabbling; even though we know it will be forgotten once Bay starts blowing stuff up. When Cade buys a beat-up old truck at a bargain it turns out to be an in-hiding Optimus, bringing Attinger's goons and Lockdown to his doorstep.

There's never been an excuse for how convoluted the earlier movies have been, especially since...HELLO!!!....this is Transformers and the primary audience is kids. So it's somewhat refreshing to have a story that's fairly simple and straight forward with Optimus looking to protect a humanity that has constantly stabbed him in the back. Does he finally reject humanity and leave them to their fate? He'd be justified to do it, and the dilemma raging within him is probably the most interesting development of the entire series.

But as stated before, nobody comes to these movies for insightful character development. They want to see stuff blowed up real nice, and as stated before Bay just doesn't seem all that into it. Sure, there's more slo-mo and gratuitous flag waving than ever before, not to mention an abundance of glass buildings ready to be shattered, but what else? You can count on two hands the number of times the Transformers do the "drop and roll" maneuver and Bay shoots them exactly the same way every time. Same cars getting bowled over, same skyscrapers toppling, it all just gets repetitive and deadening after a while. By the time the action heads to China for the final stretch you've seen it all, ad nauseum. Every critic on the planet is going to talk about the 165 minute runtime so why bother joining in? You know it's too long. I know it's too long. The only one who doesn't know it and doesn't care is Michael Bay. There are a couple of great scenes that really leap off the screen, both car chases set in the middle of falling debris, leaping robots, blasting lasers, and everything else Bay could think of. There's still that difficulty in finding something for the humans to do while the Autobots fight, and for the most part Peltz and Reynor are left to hide in the background, occasionally stopping to make out. Wahlberg wasn't brought in to be on the sidelines and is wisely thrown in the middle of every battle, something they simply couldn't do believably with LaBeouf.

Some curious decisions were made in the choice of Transformers to follow this time, too. While the Dinobots have been demanded by fans since the beginning, they're more monstrous than any previously seen version. Ken Watanabe voices the samurai-esque Autobot, Drift, while John Goodman is the cigar chewing Hound, neither of which you'd call "first stringers". Hardly any Decepticons appear at all but the one who does is the only one that really matters, setting the stage for the second chapter in what is to be a brand new full-metal trilogy. Every Transformers movie has been a greater success than the last and even if this one doesn't continue the streak this franchise isn't going anywhere for a long time. That will make a ton of fans very happy but everyone else may want to stock up on Excedrin.

Mark Wahlberg Wants to Kill Jack Reynor in 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Clip

At a whopping 165 minutes, Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction is the longest of the franchise by a good 11 minutes. That's probably about 100 minutes of vaguely recognizable Transformers smashing into one another, but the rest of the time will be stuff like what we see in this new clip. Mark Wahlberg and Jack Reynor feature in the latest footage, with Wahlberg playing a father who really doesn't like the guy trying to date his daughter (Nicola Peltz). For whatever reason Bay has decided to focus all of the released clips on the humans, perhaps because he knows we'll forget about them once the action starts.

All scenes like this do is remind me of that never-ending first hour of Dark Side of the Moon. If that happens again I'll be spending a lot of time watching the back of my eyelids. Transformers: Age of Extinction screens tonight here in DC and opens on June 27th.

Mark Wahlberg Discovers an Autobot in Two 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Clips

While many will be coming to Transformers: Age of Extinction to watch their favorite childhood toys thrashing one another on the big screen, Michael Bay always centers these movies around the humans. And let's be honest, if he didn't we'd be complaining about the lack of human perspective, even if the storylines these people are involved in are ultimately pointless. Quick what do you rememember about Sam Witwicky's parents? Probably nothing, and they were in all of the prior movies for some unknown reason. Thankfully they, nor Sam, will be seen again in favor of a new trio of humans played by Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, and Nicola Peltz.

Two new clips have arrived and they show Wahlberg's character, who is apparently a dead-broke and overprotective father, discovering a wrecked Optimus Prime. Even without tons of stuff blowing up we still get Bay's trademark shots, like lecherously focusing on Peltz's ass, probably the reason he hired her to begin with. She's a talented actress, as seen every week on Bates Motel, but Bay has no interest in her ability to do anything except fit into a pair of tight shorts. Not even the presence of TJ Miller can make these scenes palatable and hopefully they don't last long.

Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th, and if you're interested in catching it early just go here.

Humans Take Center Stage in First 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Clip

How is it that Optimus Prime and the other Autobots haven't figured out how much easier their lives would be without pesky humans running around? In this summer's Transformers: Age of Extinction, it's greedy, power-mad humans who are once again making their lives miserable and opening the door for the Decepticons to do something terrible. And while their schemes eventually fall into the background in favor of Michael Bay-style spectacle, it's the human cast at the center of the first official clip.

Featuring a leaden and (probably) inconsequential showdown between Dirk Diggler and that guy from Cheers, the clip has the two making vague threats at one another about something. Bay essentially jettisoned the entire cast of the prior films and brought in Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor as the core trio. It's an odd scene to release first, as if Bay is trying to convince us there might be an actual plot to consider this time. Sorry dude, nobody cares so just make with the giant robots and the smashing and the blowing stuff up.

Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th.

New International Trailer for 'Transformers: Age of Extinction'

Thanks for showing up, Spider-Man, X-men, and Guardians of the Galaxy, but when all is said and done it will be Transformers: Age of Extinction that walks away as the summer box office champ. That assessment comes from what Michael Bay has been able to achieve with the prior films, racking up $2.6B ($1.1B for 'Dark of the Moon' alone) and raising the "wow factor" with each effort. So knock these movies all you wish (and I sure have in my day), but everybody and their grandmother is going to turn out to see Optimus Prime roll out on some Decepticon skull.

A new trailer cut for international audiences has been released and...well, you know what to expect. Lots of robots smashing into one another and stuff getting blown up real good, only now with the long-awaited debut of the Dinobots. Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor play the fleshy characters who are expected to help stop the Decepticons and evil humans looking to exploit Transformer technology.

Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th.

Autobots Stand Together in New 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Trailer

If Transformers: Age of Extinction is truly Michael Bay's last, and there seems to be some question about that now, he's making sure to go out with a bang. And for a guy like Bay who has no problem blowing shit up, "going out with a bang" takes on a whole new meaning.

A new trailer for the fourth movie in the franchise has arrived and yep, stuff gets destroyed real good in it. Shia's out, Mark Wahlberg is in as the main human thrust into the middle of the Autobot war against the Decepticons. This one is filled with time travel, shady government types, and (finally!) Dinobots, with Optimus Prime coming out of hiding to defend the same people who are trying to destroy him.

Also starring Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Li Bingbing, T.J. Miller, and Kelsey Grammer, Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th.

New Poster, Images, and Footage from 'Transformers: Age of Extinction'

By the time Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction hits next month, we will already have seen what other supposed blockbusters have to offer. Bay's fourth cinematic effort following the Autobot/Deception war is expected to be one of the summer's biggest and possibly blow everything else out of the water, and if we know the director at all he'll be pulling out all of the stops and detonating everything to make sure that happens.

With a new trailer coming up in just a couple of days, a heroic new poster and a handful of character images have been released. Also, if you caught NBC's The Voice (and why would you??) then you may have caught a new TV spot. We'll update this post with an official version when one becomes available. As for the images, the poster is a little awkward with Optimus Prime riding Grimlock like he's a bucking bronco. With Grimlock not having anybody officially signed on to voice him it makes me wonder if the Dinobots will be able to speak, or if they'll just be glorified pets. The other images look like they may be used for future promos, possibly as part of character bio sheets.

Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th.

*UPDATE* A new brief trailer has been released announcing that Imagine Dragons will be doing an original song for Transformers: Age of Extinction. Why is this such a big deal? Who knows?*

John Goodman and Ken Watanabe to Voice Autobots in 'Transformers: Age of Extinction'

There has been a great deal of turnaround in the human cast of Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction. Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor make up what is a completely new acting cast, and now there will be some new voices with Ken Watanabe and John Goodman coming aboard.

Watanabe and Goodman have been brought on to voice the Autobots known as Hound and Drift, respectively. Getting such big names for these particular characters suggests they'll have a bigger part in the story than some of the other Autobots, the exception being Optimus Prime who will once again be voiced by Peter Cullen. The rest of the Transformers are portrayed by Frank Welker as Galvatron, John DiMaggio as Crosshairs, Mark Ryan as Lockdown, Robert Foxworth as Ratchet and Reno Wilson as Brains. What about Grimlock, though?

Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th.

New Photos from 'Transformers: Age of Extinction', 'Godzilla', 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and More

Last week was the calm before the storm, and now the summer blockbuster season kicks off with a band when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters. Depending on your point of view on the parade of popcorn flicks on the way, this is either awesome news or it just plain sucks. For me, it's a little bit of both as I'm probably more excited for Godzilla than any other movie coming out this year. But at the same time Jupiter Ascending looks kind of terrible and Transformers: Age of Extinction isn't high on the anticipated list.

USA Today and LA Times dropped their big summer previews, and in it they have new photos from Godzilla, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Guardians of the Galaxy, Jupiter Ascending, and The Expendables 3. Which one will take the summer box office crown? Who knows, and with so many films coming one right after the next, it will be interesting to see how they perform compared to previous summers.

Michael Bay Again Says 'Transformers 4' is Start of New Trilogy; Plus New Images

"This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy."

Michael Bay said that some months ago, on the same day he confirmed Jack Reynor for Transformers: Age of Extinction. And actually, rumors had been going around long before that, spurred on by producer Don Murphy, that this next film would kick off a new trilogy. So why everyone is so blown away by Bay's recent comments to EW are beyond me. Anyway, here's what he said...

Bay: It’s kind of like a new Transformers. We had three, the first trilogy, and this is going to be the next one.” The next…trilogy? “Yeah, it’s the first of a new trilogy......I’m not necessarily sure that I’m doing [the others], but that’s what it’s meant for.”

The real story there is that the connections between 'Extinction' and the prior film may be pretty loose, or that Bay is leaving the door cracked for a return. But then, those aren't really revelations either.

Better is the newly released image of Grimlock, leader of the Dinobots and one of the most popular Transformers. Here's how the story describes how he'll be depicted on screen...

"an all-digital creation, he’d be 150 feet long from tail to nostrils, 63.5 feet tall from the ground to the top of his horns, and weigh 850 tons."

Hopefully he'll get to tangle with Lockdown, the bounty hunter who is neither an Autobot or a Deception. Check out a picture of him below. Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th.

Mark Wahlberg Goes on the Run in 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Poster

Isolated farm houses in the heartland tend to be targets for aliens in movies, and that apparently extends to giant Decepticons. The latest poster for Transformers: Age of Extinction has Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz on the run from what looks like certain doom. Taking place years after the last film, Wahlberg plays a father and inventor who discovers an old Transformer, drawing the attention of the government and somehow leading to the arrival of the Dinobots.

Directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27th with Jack Reynor, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Stanley Tucci, TJ Miller, and Li Bingbing co-starring.
