New international trailer for Mike Newell's 'Great Expectations'

Another year, another adaptation of Great Expectations. The Charles Dickens classic novel has been brought to the big and small screen more than almost any other, most recently in an excellent BBC mini-series just last year with Ray Winstone and Gillian Anderson. With the awards season upon us, and literary adaptations the way of the season, Mike Newell(Amazing Grace and Chuck) is hoping his version of Great Expectations can make a few waves....if it can get U.S. distribution.

Ahead of its premier at TIFF next month, an international trailer has been released, and it shows off the impressive cast and solid production values we've come to expect from Newell. Jeremy Irvine(War Horse) takes on the role of Pip, with Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Sally Hawkins, Holliday Grainger, Robbie Coltrane, and Jason Flyming co-starring. It's the ensemble that excites me most, but even with a script by David Nicholls(Starter for 10), I'm not seeing much that has me thinking we need to see this story told yet again.

If all proceeds as is, Great Expectations will open in the U.K. on November 30th. Check out the trailer below....[ThePlaylist]
