Teaser trailer for next year's untitled 'Dragon Ball Z' film

I never had a long run of being a big Dragon Ball Z fan, but for awhile back when the massively successful anime started to appear in the U.S., I was all over it. The long-running series featured a ton of memorable, powerful characters engaged in battles that lasted literally for weeks at a time. Plus, the show featured some truly great villains and one of the best antihero characters ever in Vegeta. What wasn't to love? Well, the show quickly lost it's way by making everyone so ridiculously strong that nothing was interesting anymore, and the plots got a little convoluted. Although Dragon Ball Z is still wildly popular around the globe, it's been seventeen years since a feature film has hit theaters.

Next year sees the release of an untitled Dragon Ball Z movie, which is set to open in Japan on March 30th. Series creator, Akira Toriyama is said to be very deep into the production of the story, which takes place in the "lost decade" of time after the defeat of Majin Buu. So to Dragon Ball Z fans, this is a pretty major story, which may be why so much is being kept secret. We do know that Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, and Shenron will have parts to play, with special emphasis placed on Trunks and Goten.

No stranger to the Dragon Ball Z universe, Masahiro Hosoda will be directing. The last Dragon Ball Z anime film to open theatrically was the tenth anniversary Dragon Ball Z: The Path to Power. Does anybody count that awful live-action Dragonball Evolution as canon? Anybody? Emmy Rossum not doin' it for ya? Didn't think so.

Expect this new Dragon Ball Z flick to make its way into American theaters before too long, likely for a very limited time before hitting store shelves. Check out the teaser trailer below....
