The Top 5 Funniest Scenes of 2013

This year has been full of great, mediocre, and just plain awful movies. But regardless of where certain films stand (and none of the films on this list are bad ones, mind you), a lot of them had good or really funny moments. So, in honor the end of 2013, I've come up with a list that highlights the five funniest scenes from movies this year. They're in no particular order (because I'm too indecisive), but they are each unique and funny in their own way. Be it laugh out loud, or chuckle-worthy, these scenes stood out in their own form of comedic execution.

--

  • I couldn't find the actual scene anywhere, but if you've seen The Kings of Summer, then you know that the scene where Biaggio is speaking with his dad in Spanish about friendship while his dad shaves and only the lower half of his face is showing, is one of the most comedic scenes in the film. After the conversation ends, all Biaggio says is "thought so" and flies out the door. Made me laugh out loud.

  • The scene of Leo DiCaprio crawling after taking too many drugs called Quaaludes, which were expired because no one was making them anymore, is probably the funniest scene in the three hours that is The Wolf of Wall Street. I couldn't get a full video, but this GIF pretty much sums it up. Epic Leo crawling. That. Is. All.

  • The Backstreet Boys may be still be around, but let's face it, they're so '90s. Granted, our love of their classic songs is still very much around. And in This is the End, it looks like Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel are big fans too. So much so, that their wish in heaven is to have the Backstreet Boys show up and sing "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)", all with the original choreography. Pretty original and outrageous at the same time.

  • This scene still hasn't made it to YouTube yet, so that's disappointing, but one of the funniest scenes of the year comes from The World's End, where Simon Pegg's Gary finally makes it to the twelfth bar on the list and is met with the head of The Network, which has been taking over human bodies left and right. So, in order to stop an alien invasion, what does Gary do? Talk the alien's ears off, of course. The real question here is this: do aliens actually have ears?

  • What's a better way to spoof a romantic comedy than in a romantic comedy? Well, that's exactly what Joseph Gordon-Levitt does in his directorial debut Don Jon. When he and Scarlett Johansson go to see a movie called "Special Someone", two surprise cameos by Channing Tatum and Anne Hathaway as the movie couple who meet and fall in love make this scene memorable and funny.

Three New Clips from 'This Is the End'

Sony has released  three more clips from the celebrity-filled apocalyptic comedy This is the End, the directorial debut from Evan Goldberg and co-star Seth Rogen. We've been absolutely flooded by material on the film at this point, and while much of it looks hilarious, a lot of the humor seems a little spotty. The fun of it is the chance to see Rogen, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, and their celebrity pals play stylized versions of themselves, but we've been privy to so much footage that the novelty has already worn off.

The new clips involve snippets of scenes we've already had a look at in various trailers and TV spots. One involves an ax-wielding Emma Watson's grand entrance into Franco's crib, while another has the guys arguing over the last remaining Milky Way. The third clip I've been warned not to watch because it involves one of the film's funnier gags, similar to the clip that +Mae Abdulbaki put up earlier today.

I'll be catching This Is the End tomorrow evening (most of you have already seen it by now), and will have a review up Friday June 7th. [IGN]

James Franco gets angry with Danny McBride in new NSFW clip from 'This is the End'

We all know that Hollywood loves to bring us stories starring the one and only apocalypse.  James Franco, Seth Rogen and co. have taken the end of the world idea one step further and into the realm of funny when they bring the apocalypse to Hollywood and its plethora of high-profile celebrities.

In this new NSFW clip, James Franco gives Danny McBride a piece of his mind after the discovery that McBride has been doing highly inappropriate things with Franco's magazine. Franco is appalled by McBride's carelessness in regards to other people's belongings. Rogen can only watch helplessly as his two friends bicker at each other in anger. Although Franco is the more threatening one, even if the gun in his hand is a only a prop.

Check out the clip below and try not to laugh too hard as the comedians' friendship gets a little shaken up.

This is the End also stars Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and Jay Baruchel. The film hits theaters June 12.

New 'This is the End' character posters; plus listen to the new track by Snoop Dogg and Craig Robinson

We like to think of guys like Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and James Franco as best buds who hang out together gettin' high and acting like clowns when they aren't busy making movies. That may be true to some extent, as they frequently appear in one another's films and at various events together, but one hopes they aren't at all like the maniacal versions of themselves they play in This Is the End.

A bunch of new character posters have been released featuring Rogen, Franco, Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson reacting differently to the burning fires of the apocalypse. McBride seems to be taking quite well to it, which may be a sign that he's going to cause some trouble while holed up in Franco's crib.  Along with the images comes Snoop Dogg and Craig Robinson's original single from the soundtrack, "Take Yo Panties Off". It's pretty awful, but maybe worth a chuckle or two if only at the thought of these guys in the studio together.

This Is the End opens on June 14th. [Complex/Yahoo]

Two New Clips for 'This Is The End'

While there is statistically no chance that a movie in which Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and James Franco play themselves riding out the apocalypse at Franco's house will not be funny, the producers keep providing us with more proof day after day. The last clip we got was of Emma Watson explaining why she thought it was a zombie apocalypse to the guys (who all look like I would imagine I would look if talking to Hollywood's top seed hottie). Today we get a 'Real World' confession booth style clip and another which I will dub simply, 'Inventory'.

Here's the thing about these clips and trailers....even if they include the summation of funny parts in the entire movie, it's STILL worth the price of admission just to see them all strung together. That being said, while we've gotten tons of clips that have all been hilarious all one needs to do is look at the cast listing and you'll be assured that there's still plenty of movie left to see. A ridiculous list of cameo's containing anyone who'd ever starred in a Judd Apatow flick, plus Mindy Kahling. Today's clips show us just how far down the rabbit hole the crew gets (you'll not be having a martini for quite sometime I think), and a great bit where they run down the food/tools/weapons they have left...turns out Franco likes to keep his props, bonus points for bringing up Flyboys. Check 'em out below and let us know what you think.

Emma Watson announces a zombie invasion in a new clip from 'This is the End'

What happens when celebrities meet the apocalypse? We get a... zombie invasion? At least that's what Emma Watson thinks it is in a new clip from This is the End, which begins when Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel attend a party at James Franco's house only to find themselves facing what could possibly be the end of the world.

Check out the funny clip below!

This is the End also stars Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, and Jonah Hill and hits theaters June 12. [Comingsoon]

Jonah Hill wants to be rescued with George Clooney in new 'This Is the End' clip

"When a huge earthquake happens, who do they rescue first? Actors." That's the prevailing wisdom among Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride and more as the world is destroyed in The Is the End. But if any of them are going to live long enough to be rescued, they'll first have to put up with one another's massive celebrity ego.

The first clip has debuted over at MTV, and it shows how not even the threat of imminent death can kill their narcissistic tendencies. Discussing which celebrities will be rescued when all is said and done, Hill casually tosses his name in along with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Baruchel on the other hand would rather risk death outside than die in Franco's house.

This Is the End will attempt to make the apocalypse hilarious when it opens on June 12th.

Celebrapocalypse! Green Band Trailer for Seth Rogen's 'This is the End' hits hard!

Almost two full years ago we started hearing about the Seth Rogen flick in development about him and his friends stuck in a house while the world ended around them. Today, finally, we have a trailer. It sounds like literally the coolest way to go out, hanging out partying with Hollywood's funniest guys and hottest girls then BOOM, dunzo. Constanza'd if you will, out on a high note. After watching this trailer I sincerely hope that, except for the whole apocalypse thing, their parties are exactly like they are portraying here....yes that includes Michael Cera smacking Rihanna's ass.

The first thing that pops out at me is that I'm not very good at visualizing things. We actually got a chance to ask the man himself, Seth Rogen, about this flick last summer while he was promoting the awesome and underrated 50/50. When he said it would be him, Franco, Jonah Hill, and a few others riding out the end of the world in a house I pictured something along the lines of a house you'd find in my neighborhood, damn I was off. Franco's is the house in which they seek shelter and a suburban rambler it ain't. Past that the movie looks incapable of failing at funny. Rogen, Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and a version of Emma Watson that I can only hope is relatively close to the real thing. What is it about a woman who's capable of making fun of her self that is so damned sexy? Check out the trailer below and look for This Is The End in theaters this summer.

First red band trailer for 'This Is The End' with Seth Rogen and James Franco

While everybody on your Facebook page is making lame jokes about the Mayan calendar, the apocalypse is actually coming, albeit in a more hilarious way than many would have thought. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg emptied their Rolodexes in putting together the cast for their upcoming "end of the world" comedy, newly retitled This Is the End, and since we may not live to see another day(I would still pay those credit card bills, just in case), they've dropped the first trailer and it's a doozy.

Marking Rogen's directorial debut(co-directed with Goldberg), the film is a big screen version of his and Jay Baruchel's short film that brings all of their celebrity A-list friends to play themselves stuck in James Franco's crib while the apocalypse rages outside. Once you get past the lame intro by Rogen and Franco, the rest of the trailer is a laugh riot, with Danny McBride acting like a total jerk while Craig Robinson, Jonah Hill, and the rest try to figure out what to do next. Michael Cera, Jason Segel, and David Krumholtz get name dropped as fatalities, and it looks like Emma Watson may show up to save the day.  That's not all as Aziz Ansari, Rihanna, Kevin Hart, Paul Rudd, and many more are set for cameos.

So if this does happen to be the end, it probably won't matter this is scheduled to open on June 14th 2013. Check out the trailer below.....
